About Me

Welcome to I Crashed The Web! My name is Melissa and I am a 20-something girl from New York, living in Cleveland. I like a lot of things … and write about all of them. I mostly blog about running, other health and fitness-related stuff, cookingbakingtraveling, and exploring my newest home, Cleveland. I also talk about my husband (“B” – I met him at college in Boston)  … if you see photos of me in this blog, it’s more than likely that I asked him to take them.

I have always loved to write. When I was too young to spell, I would tell stories to my dad, who would transcribe them for me (not joking – my parents still have them all!). In sixth grade, I published a fictional novel (ask me about it sometime). In high school, I went to writing workshops and conferences (my favorite? New England Young Writers @ Middlebury’s Bread Loaf campus). Now, I blog.

I’m slightly addicted to running and baking (which may or may not be related). I enjoy running half marathons and anything under, and once trained for a full, but got injured (you can read about that debacle, here). My goal this year is to run 1,000 miles and I met the goal in August! When I’m not running, I’m baking. I’m not a food photographer, so you’ll have to bear with my photos of my baking recipes. I’m learning to cook (B is a better cook), so you’ll to bear with my cooking photos as well. Some of my favorite baking creations include:

I really enjoy traveling. When I was in high school and college, I traveled to Spain, France and Italy with my family. In college, I studied abroad in Ecuador, and lived with a family that didn’t speak any English. No, I’m not fluent in Spanish (sadly). Since I’ve met B, we’ve traveled throughout the U.S. and also to LondonIrelandCanada and the British Virgin Islands, and I can’t wait to travel even more.

I work at an integrated marketing agency. What I express here are solely my views and thoughts and have NOTHING to do with the firm I work at OR the clients we represent. Unless I say otherwise.

  1. Love you story about the Thank You card you got form LandsEnd! I am writing and presenting what I am calling the BACK to the Future of Selling which embrasses the “old school” way of doing business. For while the web and social media have changed just about every way we interact with customers the one thing that hasn’t changed is “human nature”. If given a choice we will always rather buy from people we trust and that trust must be earned and reearned every day with smalll, sincere personal expressions of gratitude like thank you cards! Best always and keep writing!
