300 Days of Running and a Never-Ending Winter

I feel like each week I say the same things – this winter is never-ending. I am so ready to be able to run outside without Yaktrax and/or just without a foot of snow.

But even though winter is still here, I’m still running, so that’s something to celebrate. And this week, I hit 300 days of my running streak! Here’s what the week looked like:

Running with my Parents in Town

Another week of run streaking down and I’m now at 65 days! I don’t know how much longer I’ll keep this up, but it’s been actually great to get out there every day. This week was easier than usual, because my parents were in town for a few days! So, Sunday and Monday I was able to sleep late (6:30-7 ish) and get in a run while the kids hung out with my parents. They enjoyed the Nonna and Grandpa time and I enjoyed the time to myself to run!

Weekend with Mom

My mom came and visited this weekend! Both of my parents were supposed to visit, but my dad came down with a sinus infection and my mom decided to still drive out by herself. I’m so glad she did! Even though she was only here for a little over a day (Friday night through Sunday morning), we had such a great time and did a lot. Seriously- I had SUCH A GREAT time. It’s going to be hard to wait another month to see her!

We started out with dinner at one of my favorites Friday night, Taza.

Saturday morning started with breakfast at Phuel.

Plus my last free coffee for a while at Starbucks. Now that they’ve changed their rewards program I don’t think I’ll be benefitting anytime soon 😦

Followed by a walk to the Cleveland Tea Revival for some tea.

And then to the West Side Market and the walk home.

That afternoon we got pedicures – the same color (OPI’s “She’s a Bad Muffuletta”).

And to the bakery for a few treats.

Then it was time for the Indians game! B got us suite seats through his work and we joined his family for a WINNING Indians game! (They were playing the Mets so my even though my mom was sporting an Indians t-shirt, I’m sure she was just a little disappointed – we’re from NY and the Mets are the team she rooted for growing up)

After the game, I convinced B and my mom to go out for ice cream. Like seriously, my mom was tired, B didn’t feel like getting off the couch and I pulled the whole “I’m pregnant and want ice cream” and it worked. Maybe I should’ve been doing this the whole time?

Sunday morning we had a quick breakfast with my mom (courtesy of some of the treats we grabbed at Bloom) before she headed out. It’s always so sad when my parents leave, and this time no exception. It took me a little while to recover.

But when I did, B and I headed outside to enjoy the gorgeous weather. It may have been 50 downtown, but it was 70 in Rocky River and we went for a run in the Metroparks. I had a hard time at first, but once I stopped comparing myself to my non-pregnant runner self and started to enjoy the weather, the scenery, etc. I had a really good run.20160417_114700

I will be sore on Monday (because that’s what happens when 7.5 month pregnant me runs now), but it was so worth it to get outside and feel good about myself.

That night we celebrated Mary’s dinner with B’s family and it was the perfect night to be outside before dinner.

Amazing what a difference one week makes – it was 20 degrees last Sunday and 70 this week! I’ll take 70 any day 🙂

Some questions for you:

  1. Did you have amazing weather this weekend as well?
  2. Favorite ice cream flavor – go! I love anything with vanilla and chunks. Especially cookie dough or peanut butter or heath bar!
  3. What’s your idea of a perfect girls weekend? the above – good food, pedicures, walking and some outdoor time.

Valentine’s Weekend in Photos

It was a great weekend in CLE! Yes, it was cold. Yes, it snowed. (Yes, it’s February) BUT my parents were in town from NY so I got some good quality family time in, which you can’t beat. Here’s a quick recap of the weekend, in photos. I’m going to attempt just 3 words (or fewer) per photo. Here we go!

Phew, that was hard! I’m not good at not rambling, I suppose.

Anyway, what a GREAT weekend. It’s so nice to have my parents in town – I miss them a lot these days and am so glad they came EVEN in the cold winter. But hey, at least it was warmer than NY?

Some questions for you:

  • Did you get any good treats for Valentine’s Day?
  • Do you do meatless Fridays during Lent?

As usual, I’m linking up with Erin for my weekend snapshot post, Katie for MIMM and the weekly wraps.

Won’t Let The Rain Keep Us Down

We had a cool, rainy weekend in Cleveland. It was a high of 70 both days – at max – which is 10 degrees cooler than usual. And it rained on and off the entire time.

Starting with that, you’d think I’d say that we spent the entire weekend inside, right? Wrong! My parents were in town and we managed to still get out and do stuff in between (and during) the showers.

Friday morning started with an 8 mile run with Nicole. We discovered a new path with a pretty good view of the city and the river, too.

Friday night, my parents got into town. We decided to spend the evening at the Asiatown Night Market. We walked over before sunset and were greeted by lots of food, music and other local vendors. We had dinner and dessert there – Vietnamese for me (along with some Chinese dumplings), and then shaved ice. SO good.

Saturday morning, we got up and trudged in the rain to Phuel for breakfast. I got my usual granola bowl, my parents enjoyed pancakes and eggs.

After a trip to Heinen’s and some travel planning indoors during the storm, we decided to go to the movies. We saw Spy – pretty funny!

After the movie, we walked around the area and  showed them the pathway to the beach.

Then, we enjoyed dinner at Luxe and dessert – the Shoreway Sundae at Sweet Moses. So. Good.

Sunday morning, we got up early, and after breakfast at Phuel (yes, again), my parents were on the road. I got in a short workout and then hung out with B.

Then, it was time for some meal prep, Netflix binge watching, and when the sun came out again, a walk with Nicole. Followed by an Arctic Zero sundae for dessert. Another weekend, success.
