Sick Week= Little Running

Welp- if you couldn’t guess from the title of this post, I got in nearly no miles running this week as I’m down for the count.

This cold has got me breathing through my mouth and barely sleeping. And since FW has it too (who do you think I got it from?), I’m not only tired from being sick and tired from being 25+ weeks pregnant, but I’m tired from him being sick too!

I know, enough first world problems. I’m just super glad that B is home this week and it’s *fingers crossed* just nasty cold for us.

So- don’t be surprised by the lack of runs here. And truth be told – the two “running” days here were actually run WALKS with the emphasis on the walk.

Here is how the week panned out:

I’m still sick so this week probably won’t be much better. Plus- the idea of going for a run in the cold and ice when I can’t breathe well doesn’t sound too appealing. Maybe if it were humid out ūüėĀ #excuses

Some questions for you:

  • Do you run when sick?
  • Do you consider a walk/run a run?

Tuesdays on the Run: Sick Week

This post will be somewhat sort because I’m sick. I’m getting over a flu-like cold and therefore this week included not so many runs, unless you count running after a 15-month-old. Even that was short-lived, as I tried to spend at least some of my free time napping.

Total for this week: 3 runs, 13ish miles total

  • Tuesday: 5 miles
  • Wednesday: 4.68 miles
  • Thursday: 4.15 miles

Some of the highlights:

I did get in 3 runs before the plague hit. I slept in Thursday and Friday and opted to just go for a long walk on Saturday.  I actually started to run a little with the stroller on Saturday morning, but had too much coughing/throat hurting (I had to breathe with my mouth open) that I decided that walking was a better fit.

Here’s to hoping that I kick this cold soon and am back and running again!

  • Do you run when sick?¬†Typically, yes. As¬†long as it’s just a cold! But this one has got me down for the count.¬†
  • Any tips for getting better fast?

Training Tuesday: Long again

This was an interesting week running-wise. I started the week strong with a feel-good 9 miler. Got two days later I could barely make it 4 miles. My body was SORE from the 9 miles for way more days than it should’ve been. Still, I managed to end the week with¬†27 miles from five days of running.

By the way, ending my runs with hugs from this guy is the BEST.

Here’s how the week went:

Sunday: 9¬†miles.¬†That’s right, I got in 9 miles outside and I felt GREAT during the entire run! I ran about 5 of them with Mary, and the weather was about 48 degrees, which was perfect for the run. I finished feeling strong and great.

Monday: 0 miles. I woke up so so so tired and sore that I decided to stay in bed and sleep longer. Good choice!

Tuesday: 4.5 easy¬†walking and running. This run was a struggle. I was so tempted to skip it. I didn’t get much sleep the night before and was up with FW. When I did make it to the treadmill, my legs and feet still sore from Sunday. I decided to stick it out and do a combination of running for a little and walking for a little until I got to 4.5.

Wednesday: 8x400s to 5 miles. I did the 400s at 7.7 and walked in between.  With my cooldown and warmup I ended up with 5 treadmill miles.

Thursday: 5.1 miles on the treadmill. 4.21 running and then a cool down.

Friday:¬†3.5 or so (didn’t¬†have my GPS on) miles outside. B and I were home since daycare was closed, and went out for a run with Mary. We didn’t have much time, and I forgot to turn my running app on, but I’m pretty sure we did 3.5 or so miles with FW in the stroller.

Total-  27.1 miles!

Hooray for getting in a “longer” run, including 2 outdoor runs!

Questions for you:

  • How many outdoor runs did you get in this week?
  • How long does it take you to recover? Do you take days off between long runs?

Training Tuesday: Recovering from Being Sick

Yay! I¬†am back and running again! For those of you following along, I had a pretty slow and low mileage week last week due to first vacation and then being sick. But now that I’m on meds, I’m on the mend and BACK!

But first, some non-mileage highlights of the week!!

I got my Cleveland Marathon Ambassador shirt!! Don’t you love it? I love sporting this around and representing the race.

AND speaking of the Cleveland race, they released their course maps! I’m excited that it’s going to be such a different course – it’s nice to try something new. AND I’m excited for the no Shoreway ending! It will still be tough – there are two relatively big hills within the first 6 miles or so, but overall I’m pretty pleased with the course!

Also, this week the Cleveland Marathon introduced their shirts – they are GREAT! I am seriously excited to see these in person. Such a great color and design!

Now, onto the runs for this week. In terms of mileage, this week was ¬†miles– appropriate,¬†still not 20+ (my goal), but seeing as I took a few days off to rest and recover, I’m okay with it!

Sunday: 0 miles. Sick!

Monday: 0 miles. Sicker! I ran a 102 fever Sunday night into Monday and so I spent most of Monday in bed, fighting off fever, chills, etc. and trying to get some medicine!

Tuesday: 3.25 easy walking and slight running. I finally started to feel better Tuesday evening and was dying to get in a run or some movement. I tried out the treadmill and was happy to be able to run/walk a few miles!

Wednesday: 4.1 treadmill miles

Thursday: 4.65 miles on the treadmill. 4.25 running and then a .4 mile cool down.

Thursday: 3.65 miles on the treadmill.

Friday: None – rest day!

Saturday: 6.66 miles outside!! It  20170218_111701

 Total- 19.58 miles!
