Where Did Fall Go?

Okay, where the heck did fall go? I feel like we went from summer to winter in a week. And I’m not okay with that.

For example, here was the temperature when I woke up to go for a run Saturday morning.

Granted, it was earlier than I typically wake up on Saturdays but still – feels like 11? BRR! Still, I bundled up in two jackets (yes, 2), some running tights (Skirt Sports Go the Distance Tights were perfect!) and made it out the door.

Part of the way through my run I was greeted with this beautiful sunrise, so I can’t really  complain.

And when I got home, B and FW were just getting up. B made FW and I pancakes, so it was a pretty good start to my Saturday!

Shortly after breakfast, we bundled up (it was now closer to 26 degrees – much warmer!) and went for a walk.

Then, it was time for the activity that ended up taking most of my Saturday, a benefit for the Carmelite nuns. The event includes some holiday shopping, AND  a fashion show!

Two of my sisters-in-law participated in the fashion show – how fun 🙂

The event went much longer than I thought, so by the time I got home and B and FW got home, it was pretty much dinner time! We ordered some local thin crust pizza. YUM.

And because my event fell through, the evening ended with watching some more of Season 2 of Stranger Things! I love the show.

Sunday morning, we decided to go on a literal bagel run! B, FW and I ran to the local bagel shop with FW. It was not nearly as cold as it had been on Saturday, but we still bundled up FW. Doesn’t he look so excited to be on the run?

We got some DELICIOUS doughy bagels. These bagels are probably the closest to NY bagels I’ve found in CLE.

That afternoon, I had Lulu’s baby shower! Her baby girl is coming in January and she had a beautiful shower with great decor, friends and games.

I even won one of the games!

That night ended with spaghetti and meatballs with B’s family. One of my favorite meals and perfect for a cold night!

So that was it! Another delicious, fun, but COLD weekend. Here’s to a good week!

Questions for you:

  • Did the weather get cold near you yet?
  • Do you like baby shower games?

4 Weekends In One

Phew – WHAT a weekend. It was one of those weekends that flew by and was jam packed. I feel like we did enough stuff that it felt somewhat like four or five weekends in one. Here’s a summary of my weekend – in emojis:

🍦🍕🍷🍂👨‍🌾👰🏃‍♀️👯🎨🍻🥒🍝

Did you get any of that?

Here – see for yourself.

Friday evening started with a nice walk around downtown, followed by an ice cream date. B, FW and I grabbed ice cream after daycare with Dave, Anson and their adorable daughter Celia. The only pics are from the walk and of the ice cream.

Oh, and FW definitely on a sugar high while getting a ride on Dad.

We ended the night with some pizza and wine on the porch. The weather has been GORGEOUS lately (warm!) and it was nice to sit outside and decompress after the week.

Saturday morning started with a walk to the local nature center to check out some of the paths and exhibits, before picking up a packet for the race I was running Sunday morning. My friend Nicole had encouraged me to sign up for a 10k, even though I hadn’t been running that far. \

Walking around the nature outside!

We then walked over to the local farmers market and picked up some produce and meat for the week.

Saturday night, B and I were off to a wedding! My friend/former coworker Ali was getting married on a beautiful farmstead south of us. It was a beautiful night for the ceremony and celebration.

They look so happy 🙂

Me and another coworker were invited … check out the gorgeous scenery!

Sunday morning came a little too early for me. I had agreed to sign up for a 10K and ran it with my friend Nicole. It was my longest run in months – since my piriformis issues – but felt good! It was steamy out, so we took our time, chatted, and stopped for plenty of water.

Sunday afternoon included a trip to the west side for our monthly Ladies Craft Beer Society! This month we were at Cuoghi’s house to make pickles. Unfortunately, since FW hadn’t had a nap yet, he was very clingy and didn’t want to be put down. Which made making the pickles a little difficult – thankfully Cuoghi and Marissa and other ladies stepped in to help and I went home with some dill pickles, pickled cauliflower AND pickled onions. I can’t wait to try them all!

Sunday night, B’s parents were out of town, so we had our own Sunday dinner at our house. B made sauce from the tomatoes we had bought at the Farmers Market (so completely from scratch!) and made some “fried” eggplant. It was such a good meal. (And yes, I chose the spaghetti emoji because I know what the eggplant emoji means ….)

So that was it! A delicious, fun, busy weekend. Here’s to a good week!

Questions for you:

  • Have you ever made sauce from tomatoes?
  • Have you ever made pickles?

House Reno and LCBS Weekend

The time is coming for our stint in downtown living to come to an end. I’ll write more about the house and our move soon, but in the meantime, we are just trying to enjoy every last bit of our lives downtown, while getting everything ready for the big move.

So how do you try to enjoy downtown AND get ready to move the same time?

It’s hard, let me tell you. But here’s one way to do it.

Friday evening started off with a 3.5 mi run for me, followed by some playground time for FW. He isn’t so sure what to think of the slide, but he is trying to enjoy it!

We then walked to the Winking Lizard for a few patio beers.

Then, B went over to the house to do some work, while I put FW to bed and get some packing done. I packed up a box of our kitchen stuff .. there are still probably about a million more boxes to go, yikes!

Saturday morning started out with some time at the house. B, some family and friends had a painting party! He also worked on putting the ceiling up in the bathroom.

We’re getting there – look at what a difference a day makes! No ceiling – almost ceiling!

FW enjoyed playing around on our gravel driveway … that too is going to be under construction soon!

He totally helped prime the walls, too.

While over on that side of town, we also took a walk with my friend Lulu. On our walk we saw what she said was a falcon! We watched it eat a mouse. I’m going to have to get used to all the new wildlife that comes with moving outside of downtown, that’s for sure! (I have a picture of it eating the mouse, but I’ll spare you the gory details)

After stopping by the house, it was time to head to LCBS. This month’s LCBS brought us to Jocelyn’s house for felt flowers. I didn’t make the craft this time, but instead enjoyed some beer and watched FW play with the other babies. I’m so lucky to have a few friends with babies!

This month’s beer choice for me:

This is me laughing because Ruby is trying to hug FW.

Sunday morning started out with a run. My long run for the week was 5 miles – nothing too long (for me), but I’m still getting back into the swing of running after some piriformis issues. It was hard from but I know that I’ll be back to where I was soon, hopefully!

While B was at the house, FW and I took a short walk around downtown and then made some sweet potatoes. He loves them fresh out of the oven. I sprinkle cinnamon on them and toss them with butter 🙂

Then, we headed over to the house to see how the work was going. The whole family was over painting again!

And then FW and I took another walk, this time in the ‘burbs. He loved playing with the gravel on the driveway.

All in all it was a pretty good weekend and things are coming together at the house! I can take no credit, as I was on baby duty the entire weekend, but it’s amazing what one weekend can do. Will it be ready for us to move in soon? We shall see!

Some questions for you:

  • Are you a DIY-er? Have you bought a fixer upper?
  • Get in any good runs this weekend?
