Happy Monday! Can you believe the weekend is over? I’m SO tired after celebrating a bachelorette. I can NOT hang like I used to. I was out until 1:30 a.m. Saturday/Sunday … but I digress. Here’s a look at how the overall weekend looked:
Friday night I ended up missing out on some of the bachelorette activities and stayed in with the fam. We ordered sushi and had dinner on the porch, which was an excellent decision for a beautiful night. Full disclosure – the kids had grilled cheese and tofu nuggets. BUT LM ended up also eating some of the rice and seaweed salad!
Saturday morning, B was out golfing, so we did some playing inside on our own.
But when B got home, we rode our bikes (I ran) to the playground, and then to the farmers market!
Later that afternoon, I realized both LM and I were in dresses – so naturally we had to grab a pic.
But then it was time to head out for the bachelorette!
We celebrated by having drinks, dinner, more drinks, dancing and more. Is there any better way to celebrate your future sister-in-law?
We stayed out LATE. I was out until 1:30 a.m., which was earlier than most of the crew. #feelingOld
But, I have 2 kids who wake up when the sun’s up most days, and staying out so late meant not as much sleep as usual. Thankfully, B let me sleep in and I got up just before the family went out for breakfast. B had planned to take the kids to pancakes while I slept, but I have serious FOMO and had to join them. So, I ran to meet them there.
And then did a little run on the way home, putting me at 4ish for the day. Not bad considering I was out partying late!
The rest of the day was spent relaxing and hanging out. I even got in a nap when both kids were napping = win! But still — I need more sleep than that. Here’s to hoping for a restful week!
Questions for you:
Well, what a weekend. For having nothing really planned, we got in a lot of fun! Friday night included sushi and a family walk. Yup, we keep things simple these days as a family of four. But I am LOVING sushi right now and can’t get enough of it now that I’m no longer pregnant!
Saturday morning started off with our first run as a family of four! B took LM in the stroller and I took FW in the stroller and the four of us went for a run around our neighborhood. We live about a half a mile from some paved trails and it makes running with a stroller so much easier.
\
It was semi-hot and I was tired afterwards. I don’t know how I bounced back so quickly after FW – it’s harder this time around for sure!
LM may be going through a growth spurt, because I spent the rest of the day feeding her on and off, while B did some work around the house and yard.
That night we got pizza! A weekend with pizza and sushi is a pretty good weekend 🙂
Sunday morning we took a walk around our neighborhood before it got too hot. And then it was time for the World Cup! My friend Stephanie was having people over to watch the game for a brunch at her place. There was so much good food – and soccer – and babies!
Sunday afternoon, after doing some more yard work and work around the house, FW hung out with his cousins for a little. They had been on a vacation in Spain and brought back matching soccer jerseys!
FW and I also got in a short walk – it was HOT but nice to walk around the lakes.
Per usual, Sunday night ended with dinner with B’s family. FW got in more cousin time and it was a nice end to a nice weekend.
Some questions for you:
Okay, winter – I’m done with you. Really – I’m done and ready for warmer weather and less SNOW.
We had snow again this week – not so much – and even though we had a clear, mostly sunny weekend, it was still COLD. Like, 32 degrees high kind of cold. BRR! Still, it was a jam packed weekend with tons of stuff to do … but we bundled up, that’s for sure.
Thursday night, B and I went out! We went to see the comic, Gary Gulman, with one of my coworker/friends who is moving. We first grabbed sushi and mochi and then got to the show.
Gary Gulman is great. I’d seen him before and he did a few of my favorite sets, including this one:
Friday night, after I did a little shopping with some of my sisters-in-law, B and I ordered some pizza and spent the night in. I was pooped after our late night out Thursday, and the lack of sleep I’ve had lately. (Thank you third trimester and toddler!)
Saturday included some brunch at one of our favorite locales, Luna. FW enjoyed some scone and bites of eggs. I love their yogurt and granola.
Saturday we also went to our first Indians game of the season! Even though we are sharing season tickets and had plans to go to Sunday’s game, we had snagged club seats. B, FW and I went with B’s brother and our nephew.
Sunday was jam packed with stuff to do. As in, I left the house a little before 10 a.m. and didn’t get home until 9:30 p.m.!
We started off the day with a bridal shower for my friend Cuoghi.
Me and the beautiful bride-to-be.
After the bridal shower brunch, it was time for another Indians game! This one was a COLD one – even colder than the day before, not only because we were sitting in the shade, but because of the temps. They even announced that it was the coldest game ever played at the field in history!
Thank goodness we ended up with a walk-off home run to win, 3-1.
We were bundled up.
After the game, it was time to head over to B’s family’s house for Sunday dinner. We were celebrating his grandma’s 89th birthday! And we enjoyed some wedding cake samples from B’s sister, who is getting married this summer.
Not bad for a busy weekend? Not a lot of exercise or movement, but a lot going on!
Some questions for you:
It was a weekend of many firsts for FW. First time in a pool, first family softball game, first time seeing (and petting and sitting on!) a horse, and probably a few more that I’m missing.
But I’m getting ahead of myself. Here are some highlights from our weekend.
Friday night included some homemade pizza and an episode of Sneaky Pete before B went to work on the house. We haven’t had homemade pizza in FOREVER and it was so delicious. And it’s nice to have a homemade meal when I don’t have to cook (B’s the pizza chef).
Saturday was JAM PACKED. I started off the morning with my fastest run since my piriformis issue and got in 3.54 miles! With some stretching and foam rolling of course.
After that, we were on our way to B’s family’s bi-annual softball game. Every other year, the families get together for the Carney Games and play one another in softball.
I’m not the most athletic person, but I’m not awful at softball – I’m one of the worst players on the team, but I did make 2 hits and got a run in the 3 1/2 innings I played (I was only at bat twice).
Our team won! The score was something ridiculous like 20-7 …
After the game, we headed to B’s uncle’s house. He has a lot of land and a farm with cows, horses, and a pool.
FW loved being in the pool! It was his first time, and B and I got to hold him and glide him around in the water.
We enjoyed some good food and beverages, and then FW got to see some of the animals. He was less-than-thrilled with his first horse experience. He’s a city boy and uncomfortable around wildlife like his momma 🙂
FW also got to hang out with his cousin. They are only a few months apart, which is great!
I didn’t get a picture of the amazing food (they make their own sausage!), but I did get a pic of my drink of choice. Rose and cider? Count me in!
Sunday came and went waay too fast! The day started with some pancakes and a 4 mile run.
Followed by reading with this guy one of my brother’s old books.
And then, some time in the splash park downtown. He loves running around in the fountains and was soaked!
We ended the day with takeout sushi. Sunday night typically means dinner with B’s family, but B ended up working on the house until after 7, so we didn’t get a chance to make dinner. Takeout sushi is okay with me, though!
Some questions for you:
Happy Birthday to ME! That’s right, my birthday was this week and B, FW and I had fun celebrating this weekend and enjoying some great weather, going for runs, spending time with friends, and more.
I also had some TREATS on Monday to celebrate my BIG DAY – so that’s what today’s What I Ate Wednesday is from!
The day started with going out to breakfast with B and FW! We went to Yours Truly (I know, I went there last week!) and this time I got the Eggs Bruschetta. They were so good! Two sunny side up eggs on top of spinach, tomato, parmesan and toast!
Lunch was a leftover veggie burger, kale salad and a sweet potato. And La Croix 🙂
Snacks during the day (in no certain order) included some energy bites!
And mixed nuts …
Some tea and kombucha …
And an apple. Yup. I was snacky.
And for my birthday dinner I chose sushi! It was so good – I got veggie roll, a rainbow roll and mackerel sashimi. And B and I shared this seaweed salad!
And with our dinner – some champagne. Because it was my birthday 🙂
Oh and some treats, of course! I made cookies and enjoyed these soft M&M cookies and some new Hershey’s Kisses.
And that was it! Happy birthday to ME! Some questions for you:
And just like that, we blinked and it’s mid-December now! Here’s how our weekend went, one-sentence-per-photo style.
Friday nights that start with beer and wine (and this ceiling view) are pretty awesome.
And it has been too long since we had homemade pizza.
Starting him on reading young (the book ended up in his mouth one second later).
These are actually pretty good.
Look who FW met for the first time!
Sushi on weekends is always a great idea.
And it’s that time of year – Christmas pageants – this one, with my niece!
And that about sums up our weekend. Some questions for you:
Per usual, I’m linking up with Erin, Katie and the weekly wraps.
Another great summer weekend filled with food, fun, drinks and family has come and gone. Why do summer weekends go so fast?
I know, rhetorical question. But seriously, even though we got hit with some rain for what feels like he first weekend in forever, we still managed to enjoy our time in Cleveland by celebrating a birthday, enjoying some BBQ, celebrating Cleveland Pride, running and more.
We started Friday night with drinks and BBQ at Mabels to celebrate B’s brother’s birthday. Look at all that BBQ meat!
It was a great night out on E 4th street – it was hot and humid but the patios were getting full.
Saturday morning started with this little guy. And this guy. We of course had to watch the Olympics now that the track & field events have started!
When he went down for a nap, I hit the gym for 4 sweaty miles. It was already upper 80s and a bazillion percent humidity so I decided to stay inside and watch Mr. Robot while on the treadmill for a little. The gym was steamy also, but I’m glad I stayed inside and had my water bottle.
Then, it was time to head to Cleveland Pride! FW had the perfect onesie to celebrate.
The weather held up so we also ended up eating outside on the patio of Rebol, the new spot in Public Square. It was really good – I made my own bowl with their noodles and poke tuna.
That afternoon/evening it stormed on and off, so we took it easy. B picked up some dinner supplies at Gallucci’s – it was the Feast of the Assumption after all – and made us pizza for dinner. We finally broke out one of the “good bottles” of wine and enjoyed that as well. And some meat and cheese. A perfect Saturday night 🙂
Sunday morning, FW and I watched a little of the Olympics women’s marathon and then the three of us headed out to try out the new jogging stroller! We went to a nearby trail and logged 4.25 miles, taking turns holding the stroller at different times. I’m not going to lie, running with the stroller is hard! It was the first time B and I had run together since the race we did when I was 38 weeks pregnant, I’d it was great to be out there was him again.
We followed the run with some pastries and kombucha. Because that’s what I like to do on Sundays 🙂
That afternoon, we hit up the outlets for some shopping! We were there until they closed and then we picked up sushi for dinner. Yes, I have sushi just about every week now that I’m not pregnant any more. It’s great!
Some questions for you:
Per usual, I’m linking up with Erin, Katie and the weekly wraps.
Well, B and I survived the first week home with the baby! Honestly, I don’t know how single parents do it – this first week was challenging, tiring and rewarding – but I did it all thanks to B. Not sure how I’m going to deal when he goes back to work in a week … but I digress.
We had a great holiday weekend! Showing FW around town, hanging out with my parents (who were visiting again) for the weekend and of course having some family time for the holiday.
Friday started with a trip to the West Side Market – we showed FW around our normal shops.
And a trip to Gallucci’s for some wine and pizza supplies.
Because Friday night was pizza night! B made this awesome pepperoni and mushroom pizza with our new pizza stone. It was the perfect TGIF dinner!
Saturday morning was gorgeous, so we got in a short walk to the water and of course took some pics with FW.
My parents got in that afternoon and they were very excited to see him!
It stayed gorgeous out all day, so we needed the day with an evening out to dinner – burgers and wine outside downtown. My veggie burger was so good!
Sunday morning, B’s mom had everyone over for brunch. It was great to introduce the baby the rest of the family – and of course his cousins loved holding him again.
After brunch, we went for a walk around a nearby lake – it was great outside and it’s been so much fun sharing all our favorite spots with FW.
And for dinner? Sushi with my parents. Gotta love being able to eat raw fish again!
Monday started out lazy. I had been up with FW much of Sunday, so we hung low and then got in a walk around downtown before heading to B’s family’s house for the Fourth of July BBQ.
FW even got some bonding time with his great grandma. He is so lucky to have so many family members nearby and not only all of his grandparents but also a great grandma!
And that was it- a great Fourth of July weekend and FW’s first celebration!
Sorry to get your hopes up – it’s not quite Friday yet. I know – I’m a tease. BUT these are my eats from last Friday and I am counting down the days until it’s Friday here because I’m on vacation next week!
Sorry in advance – this was a pretty standard day. Egg whites and veggies for breakfast, a few snacks, more veggies, more snacks, fruit, etc. We did go out for dinner (sushi!) but other than that, pretty standard. See for yourself:
Breakfast was some eggwhites and spinach and veggies and sauerkraut. Pretty standard, but delicious nonetheless. Oh, and since I was feeling pretty sleepy, I had some pumpkin spice chai tea. A perfect pick-me-up!
Snacks that morning included an apple and clementine. Love me some fruit.
Lunch was a whole veggie medley, plus some chicken. Brussels sprouts, roasted sweet potato, some breaded eggplant, cauliflower and snap peas. So good!
And grapes on the side at my desk.
And I was craving something sweet that afternoon – and our peanut M&M supply at work is gone! So I made due with what I had – some spaghetti squash. I mixed it up with some honey and cinnamon and it was pretty good.
That night, B and I went to Sushi 86 for dinner. I started with miso soup (of course)!
And then this. ❤ sushi!
And that was it. I was stuffed after all that goodness. I’m not a big rice fan (more of a pasta girl) but in sushi, I can tolerate it. It’s just filling 🙂
