It’s the Most RUNderful Time of the Year

I can’t help the title — it’s December and the past week has been pretty great for running! While my parents got tons of snow in NY, somehow miraculously in Cleveland we were spared and had a relatively mild week with mild temps and no real accumulation of snow overall. We had some flurries one morning and it looked slippery another morning, so I opted to hit the treadmill those times, but other than that, I lucked out and got outdoors every day!

Here’s a look at the week:

Back Outside Again

Hooray!! The snow melted and we were able to get back outside and running outdoors again in CLE. That meant this week I was able to run outside most mornings and was able to ignore the treadmill for another week.

Here’s how this week looked:

Some highlights:

We started off the week with a FAMILY stroller run. We haven’t run as a whole family for a while, and it was nice to get outside with the four of us. LM was tired and cried for 2ish miles before finally passing out in the stroller.

We also got in a walk that day — look how nice it was out!

Thursday’s run was actually split between 2 workouts- I ran 6ish in the a.m. and then got in a short workout with a coworker, which I haven’t done in several years. It was a great way to beat some work stress!

This week is a weird week with the holiday, so hopefully I’ll be able to get in some workouts anyway.

Some questions for you:

  • Do you ever workout in the middle of the day?
  • Do you have any workouts planned for the holiday week?

Back on the Treadmill Again

Well, winter is here in Cleveland.

I guess technically it is still fall, but Mother Nature must have forgotten this week, because the weather felt much more like January. Cold, icy and snowy.

Yes, that was what we woke up to Tuesday. A layer of ice covered by 3ish inches of snow, and it was only 15ish degrees when I woke up. So, I decided to hit the treadmill.

The snow stuck around through the rest of the week (it finally warmed up somewhat Saturday), so I ended up running inside pretty much the whole week.

Here’s a look at my mileage:

Some highlights:

Sunday before the snow hit it was in the 40s, so I got out for a stroller run with FW. We got in 5 miles, which is a longer stroller run for both of us — he doesn’t usually keep in the stroller that long and LM definitely doesn’t.

FW even took a picture of me during the run!

I hope it’s a little warmer and we’re done with the winter weather for a while so I can be back outside again this week.

Questions for you:

  • How do you keep running outside when it gets snowy/icy?
  • Do you like running on treadmills?

Weekly Run Down – A Few Off Days

This week wasn’t the best week running wise. Why? I was out of town in the beginning, and then my brother-in-law got married, making for a busy Friday and beyond.

Here is a look at the mileage from the week:

And some highlights:

A 10K to start of my Monday morning. Felt good after a travel day on Sunday and no miles.

Not running related, but I was dancing the night away Friday/Saturday! It was my B’s brother’s wedding and I had pink suede stilettos that weren’t the most kind on my feet, but I sure had fun dancing! And of course wrangling the kiddos.

Questions for you:

  • Do you ever have weeks where you end up with multiple off days? How do you deal with it?
  • When was the last time you went to a wedding?

Weekly Run Down: Cleveland Ambassador Edition

I’m excited to share that I am back as a Cleveland Marathon Ambassador! I will be once again training for one of my favorite races next spring, and sharing my training with you. I’ll also be able to share a free race entry with one lucky fan coming up soon. I’m really excited and feel so lucky — the Cleveland Marathon is a great event, and I’ve done one or more of the races as part of the marathon weekend for more than 5 years in a row.

So what I doing for runs now? I don’t have any big races lined up in the meantime, but instead have plans to keep up my base mileage throughout the winter so I’m ready for training next year.

Knowing that, here is a look at my runs this week. It was a warm week – it was nearly 90 on Monday – but I think it’s finally getting to be fall now. I’m anticipating some chilly morning runs soon!

Some questions for you:

  • Are there any races that you consistently run year after year?
  • Do you see deer on your runs?
