And just like that, I’m back at double digits this week! I can’t remember the last time I ran 10 miles at once, but it’s been some time, and it feels good to be back. With a little over a month until Cleveland half marathon trace day, I’m just hoping to keep it up, and stay healthy and uninjured. Is that so hard? (Don’t answer that, it is!)
This week threw some wrenches into plans, but also included some positives. GM was exposed to COVID at daycare, and had to stay home while the class was closed for the week (he tested negative thankfully). On a positive note, FW was on spring break, which meant I could sleep a little later because there was no early school bus to catch. Even just sleeping in 40 more minutes has made such a difference. It gives me hope for summertime!
Here’s what the week looked like – all outdoor runs!
Sunday: 4.34 stroller miles – my goal was to get GM to nap and he did!

Monday: 5.13 miles
Tuesday: 4.66 total miles — I did a warmup, cool down and 8×400 speed work
Wednesday: 5.08 miles
Thursday: 2ish miles – wanted to rest my legs before Friday’s long run, and my knee was feeling a little wonky, so I got in only some walking/running in the afternoon.
Friday: 10 miles! I’m loving getting in my long runs during the week, when it works for my schedule. It’s nice not to have to worry about fitting it in on busy weekends.

Saturday: No run – instead, went for a 3.75 mile walk with GM. Felt good to rest the legs, but I couldn’t stay inside all day- thus the walk.
Total weekly: 31.2 miles
Also exciting this week, I officially signed up for my race! I don’t know why I delayed, but I’m officially signed up for the Challenge Series. This includes a 5k on Saturday and half marathon on Sunday. You not only get 3 medals (one for each race and a special challenge medal) but usually some cool swag too. Last year was my first year not doing the Challenge Series — I had only been running for about 6 weeks postpartum so I didn’t feel comfortable doing the half.
Some questions for you:
- Do you have any races near you with a challenge series-type of event?
- Did you get outside this week?
Note: I am a Cleveland marathon ambassador! That means I get free race entry for me, and a free race entry to give away.
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
