Does anyone else get all the post-race feels? I’m feeling up and down this week, now that my half marathon is done.
In case you missed it, last Sunday, I ran the Cleveland half marathon. I came in at 2:06ish, which isn’t a PR or anything, but still faster than I was last year. My 5K time on Saturday was also faster, which I’m considering a win.
But now that the race is over, I’m feeling up and down. Happy that I can just run whatever I want in the mornings vs. stick to a training plan, and even sleep in a little again … but sad because I’m not sure what’s next!
This week I took it easy. I was feeling a little sore in my quads on Monday/Tuesday, and my feet were sore overall most of the week, but I felt pretty good otherwise. Here’s how the week turned out:
Sunday: Half marathon! 13.4ish miles total and the full recap is here. It was a good race with a good (new) course and I even got some fun photos! I also got in a 2 mile walk later in the day to keep the legs moving 🙂

Monday: Core workout and 2.11 miles walk/run. It felt good to sleep in! I decided to go out for a walk, but then felt okay and decided to do a little walk/run instead of just walking. My quads were sore but it felt good to move!
Tuesday: core workout and then 2.62 miles walk/run. This day was more running than walking, but still in recovery mode. Slow and steady!
Wednesday: Core workout and 3.31 miles walk/run, plus 2.5 mile walk later in the day. It was absolutely GORGEOUS out and I was so glad to get in a lunch walk. I saw some blue herons, turtles and more on the walk. It was LM’s birthday and we had a fun celebration that night.

Thursday: Core workout and 3.33 miles walk/run, plus 2 mile walk later in the day. It was another great day and I was thrilled to be able to get in a lunchtime walk in nature again, with more herons and turtles.

Friday: Core workout, 3.5 mile run and 3 mile stroller walk with LM. I had taken the day off to spend with LM as a belated birthday celebration – her birthday was Wednesday and she is now FIVE years old. Holy cow, where does time go? She decided she wanted to walk to the library and a coffee shop, but I decided we’d go to a coffee shop a little further away so she came along in the stroller. It was a great morning and I was happy to get in a 3 mile walk.
Saturday: 3.68 mile run and 2+ mile stroller walk with LM. My parents were in town, and after I got in a run, we decided to walk to the local farmer’s market and to LM’s ballet class, which got me in some good steps for the day. It was gorgeous and spring-like weather- I couldn’t have asked for anything better! Later in the day we celebrated LM’s birthday with a few friends of hers from school. It was her first friend birthday and she had a blast! Next month we’ll do the same with my son – it will likely be a little crazier with several 7 year old boys vs. some 5 year old girls and their moms. At least the weather was great for LM, hopefully it’s nice for FW – yay for summer!
Total mileage: 31.95 miles run + miscellaneous walking
Questions for you:
- Do you take off time between races?
- Any summer birthdays in your family?
