Too Much Snoozing

What a week. I am tired! I don’t know what is going on, but I have been so tired lately and snoozing too much on my alarm in the morning. I have never been a snoozer growing up. My alarm goes off, and I get up. Or, my 2nd alarm goes off and that gets me out of bed. But this week I snoozed nearly every day and one morning I even snoozed in my sleep! That has meant that I don’t have enough time for my full workout (5 mi+core) before I need to be home to get ready for my day. Luckily some days I’ve had time to make up for it at lunch, but I need to get better about not snoozing in the future!

Here’s how this week looked:

Sunday:  4.16 mi run, then 3ish miles walking FW had an early soccer game, so I only had time to get in 4 miles before we were out the door. The good news was that the soccer game was only about 1.5 miles away from our house, so instead of driving with B and the rest of the fam, I walked over with GM in the stroller. Since FW has to be at games 30 minutes early, we ended up leaving the house around the same time and I made it to the game early still!

Monday: 5.1 mile run plus core workout.  I unfortunately didn’t make it to the kids’ xcountry practice – it got moved earlier, and B had to take the kids. So, I was stuck with just a run in the morning and some core work.

Tuesday: 4.54 mi run plus core workout, and 3 total miles walking (1 before work, 2 at lunch) I snoozed a little too much to get in a full 5 miles and a core workout, and opted instead to just get in what I could. This evened out to 4.5 miles of running after my 8 min ab video. Then, I was able to get in a 1 mile walk with GM before work, and then another 2 miles at lunch.

Wednesday: 5.16 miles run, then ~3 miles walking (am and lunch).  I once again snoozed too much to get in a core workout and 5 mile run. Since I had opted to do the core workout Tuesday, I opted to run today.  After the bus stop drop off, I walked 1 mile with GM, who just wants to “run run run” these days – he ran for about .5 mi on and off, and then we walked/I carried him home. Then, I had some unexpected time open up around lunch, so I was able to get in my core workout then, plus another 2 mile walk in.

Thursday: 4.05 miles run, core work and ~3 miles walking (am and lunch again).  Another snooze morning, but this time I snoozed in my sleep and didn’t get out of bed until MUCH later! This meant I only had time for 4 miles and nothing else. After the bus stop, I got in a walk with GM and we made it about 2 miles before he had to go to school/I had to get to work.  Then, I got in a 1 mile walk and 8 min ab video at lunchtime again.

Friday: 5.5 miles running in the daytime! I don’t get in many daytime runs, but was able to fit one in after the bus picked up the kids for school on Friday. I was so grateful to get outside and run during daylight and stopped to take photos along the way.

Saturday: 3.57 mile stroller run I took GM out with the stroller and he was actually excited to go in there with his breakfast while I ran. We didn’t have time for much,  because as soon as I was done, it was time for FW’s soccer, then LM’s soccer, then FW’s piano lesson.

Total mileage: 31.97 mi

Questions for you:

  • Do you hit snooze?
  • How many alarms do you have set in the morning?

I am not a snoozer, but I wish I was! lol No, once my alarm goes off, I’m up. Too many years of having to get up before the boys to run has been stamped on my brain. It looks like you did ok with your runs this week!

I’m not usually a snoozer either, but my husband is! I always have to ask, “what time are you ACTUALLY planning to get up” vs. what time is your alarm…ha!

What a treat to get a daylight run! Great photos. Great week, even with the snoozing 🙂

I am not a snooze button person-I have to get up once I am up.Sounds like you could benefit greatly from a little more sleep!

I don’t typically “snooze,” but I do stay in bed for a few minutes after waking up. Once in awhile, I will doze off (like last Wednesday, LOL), but usually once I’m awake, my brain is “ON” for the day.

I would say you did pretty well even with the extra snoozing. I rarely hit my snooze alarm in the morning. I don’t trust myself to wake up twice!

OMG I snooze like it’s my job. I confess, I’ve been super tired this week as well. I am blaming the moon cycles. It’s the only thing that makes sense.
