Somehow September ended, and I don’t have any idea where it went. Here are some of September’s highlights:
- Total mileage: 135.31 mi
- Additional fun facts:
- Core workouts: I got in my core workouts 4-5 days/week!
- Walking: I got in several days of walking each week, a few miles each time. Weather wise, Sept. was gorgeous so it was easy to get out and walk before work, at lunch and even to and from some soccer practices.
And, a big highlight from this week — we did a race! There was a fun family run in our neighborhood, and B, LM and GM did the family 1 miler. FW decided the week of the race that he wanted to run the 5K, so we ran it together and he did great! So here’s how this week looked, including his run:
Sunday: 5K race (3.25 mi on my Garmin) FW and I ran the race together and it was great! Last year we did the race as well, and he finished at 44-something (walking/running). This year, he ran the whole thing with me and finished around 32 minutes! I was so proud of him – he sprinted at the end, so I know he could’ve run even faster throughout. LM and B did the 1 miler, and GM even ran some of it too. He was so excited to be in a race, even if he didn’t really understand what was going on. He just kept smiling and saying, “I running! I running!”

Monday: 6.05 miles total run plus core workout and 1 mi walk. I was tired Monday morning, but got out of bed in time to get in a core workout and 5 mile run. I also got in a walk with FW before it was time to go to work. Then, I took the kids to xcountry, so I was also able to get in about 1 mile run with them.

Taking a break during xc practice
Tuesday: 4.14 mi run plus core workout, and no snooze, plus 4+mi walking! I was slow getting out of bed and getting ready for my day, so I only had time for 4 miles. But, I got in a 1.5 mi walk in the morning, 1.5 mi walk and lunch and then some walking to and from soccer practice, getting in 20,000+ steps.
Wednesday: 5.05 miles run plus core workout, then ~ 4.5 miles walking (am, pm and lunch) I didn’t snooze again! Between morning and afternoon movement, I got in a lot of miles on foot on Wednesday and racked up 22,000+ step day.
Thursday: 5.04 miles run, core work and ~2.75 miles walking. I made it out of bed in time to get in a slightly longer core workout, plus 5 miles in between the rain. It was raining when I woke up but stopped when I went out, so I assumed I would only get in 2-3 miles before it started raining again. Luckily it stayed dry during my run! It started up again right when I was done, but an hour later when I went out for a walk with GM, it stopped again. We walked to get some bagels for the rest of our week.
Friday: 5.57 mi run and ~3 mi walk. I was able to sleep in (until 6!)and get in a run during the sunshine. I also got in 2 different walks during the day.
Saturday: 2.75 mile stroller walk/run. I woke up to cold weather with rain in the forecast, but still wanted to get outside. I brought GM out to run some errands before soccer games and piano lessons, and we literally ran/walked from shop to shop. He kept complaining he was cold and wanted to not run because it was windy, and then the rain looked like it was imminent so we ended up heading home.
Total mileage: 31.01 mi
Questions for you:
- Did you have a huge jump in weather this week? We went from 80s to 40/50s!
- Any races coming soon?

How fun to have races for the whole family. That cookie medal is so cute.
Congrats to your whole family of competing in the local race, and especially to your son for improving his time by so much. How fun to make it a family affair! And a race cookie instead of a medal? Count me in!
