For me, running has always been my key to my sanity. Crazy week at work? Start the day with a run. Feeling anxious? Go for a run. Too much going on at home? Get some me time with a run. The past two weeks, however, I’ve had to adapt. Be flexible. As my hip adductor still heals, I’m trying to keep active on the bike and minimal weight lifting (focusing on arms) plus core work. I am enjoying switching it up, but still miss the feeling I get when running.
I’m going to try running again soon and if it still hurts, likely make an appt with a sports medicine dr and then PT.
Here’s how the full week looked:
Sunday: 58 minutes on the indoor bike and then 3.1 mi walk with the family – We so rarely get out for family walks, that this was such an unexpected treat. Did the kids complain? Yes. Did GM need to be carried for half of the walk? Yup! But I was happy to get outside and walk with the full family.
Monday: 45 minutes on the bike plus some arms and core work.
Tuesday: 1 hour on the bike with arms plus core work and a 1.1 mi walk later in the day at work.
Wednesday: 1 hour on the bike, 2.63 mi walk, plus core work – I was working from home and able to also get in a walk at lunch time, which doesn’t always happen. But the sun was shining and it felt great to be outside. At one point the clouds came out but they were still really pretty!

Thursday: 1 hour on the bike plus core work – I got in a long ride after waking up a little earlier than usual and it felt pretty good. But not as good as running!
Friday: 50 minute bike and longer core work – I got in a longer core/arm workout in the morning, followed by a low intensity bike ride because my leg was a little achy. I opted not to do much else with my legs during the day.
Saturday: 55 minutes on the bike – GM woke up early again, so I got in a bike ride before everyone else in the house was awake. It had started snowing Friday night and was still snowing most of the day! So it wasn’t as hard not to run as it had been last week when it was 50 degrees.
Questions for you:
- Did you get any wintry weather this week?
- Now that I’m cycling indoors, I have more time for TV. Any streaming recommendations?
I am linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
