Oh wait, another trip

Well, when I wrote last week’s post, I shared that after 2 different long weekends out of town, I was back and getting back into our routine of summer at least. Well, this week it happened again – another break in the routine! But for a good reason — I was out of town for a girls weekend with my best friends from high school! The last time we were all on a trip together was before the pandemic, so this was truly a reason to celebrate.

Here’s how the week went:

Sunday: 10.67 mile run, planking and push ups –  Hooray for a Sunday long run! After a few weekends out of town, it felt good to get in a double digit run and on a weekend. I woke up before most of the family was awake, got in my run before it was too steamy, and then got home while my youngest was still eating breakfast. I ran the full time and felt good!

Monday: 4.65 mile run, 10 minutes indoor bike, core workout, push ups, planks, ~2 mile walk- Since I had ran 10+ miles on Sunday, I went out thinking I wouldn’t run more than 3-4. OF course when I got to 4 I wanted to get to 5. I didn’t end up having time, so I made it as far as I could before having to get ready for my day. Then at lunch, I got in a nice little walk – this time my daughter joined me!

Tuesday: 5 miles running, 15 minutes indoor bike, push ups, planks and core workout, 1 mile indoor lunch walk – It was only 70 degrees in the morning and I felt good running outside. I finished my 5 miles and then I got in a short bike cool down, and started my day. Later in the office, a coworker and I got in a 1 mile lunchtime walk. It had started pouring, so we decided to walk inside. That’s one good thing about working in a large office/campus – plenty of offices to walk around!

Wednesday: 5.17 miles running, pushups and core workout, 18 minutes indoor bike – I woke up to upper 60s – it almost felt cool when I left my house for my run! My legs were tired though, so I finished around 5 miles and then did an indoor bike ride to cool down. We had had some crazy storms Tuesday night and I passed a lot of debris on my running trails, and even a tree down in the street.

Thursday: 7.04 miles running, pushups and core workout, 13 minutes on the bike, 2.72 mile walk – I made it out the door with a little extra time to get in another mile, so I opted for 7 miles after doing my core workout and push ups. I also managed to have 13 minutes to cool down on the bike, which was good – even though it was cooler out, I was still so sweaty after my run! I later took a walk at lunch and spied some more storm damage. I am feeling so lucky since so many people are without power and will be for several more days.

Friday: 3.35 mi run – It an early morning for me — I had to leave my house at 4 something for the airport. I knew it was going to be a long, tiring day and the one thing that makes me less cranky is a run! So I got out of bed at 3:10 a.m. and got in a short run. I was dragging so I didn’t have time to do anything else, but was glad to have gotten in some movement before heading out the door and sitting on a long flight.

Saturday: 3.5 miles running, push ups and planks – I was lucky to get in a run with my friend Alisa early thanks to jet lag. I woke up at 6 a.m. West. Coast time and she was up too. We both went out to explore for a few miles before the rest of our house woke up.  We got in some beach miles and it was beautiful!!

Total: 39.53 mi of running plus some indoor cycling workouts, planking and push ups

Questions for you:

  • How often do you travel?
  • When was the last time you had a girls trip?

I am linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

  1. It has been way too long since I’ve had a girls trip — probably pre-pandemic. I’d get up at 3 to get to the airport if I had to, but I would not get up at 3 to get in a run!

Yikes on that tree! Hope it was cleared quickly!

  2. running at 3 am?! how fun. Hope you have a great time with your high school friends. I have an annual girls trip to Florida every May and a running one every fall. The highlight of my year

  3. Sounds like a great week of running! I know it might sound crazy to get up at 3 am to run- but I agree, it feels good to get some movement in before sitting on a plane. I can’t remember if I’ve ever had a girls’ trip. But I did have a trip with my son this week and it was great. Hope you’re having fun!

  4. The damage from the storm reminds me of all the damage we had in 2020 from the derecho that swept through my town. We had numerous trees down, and lots of power lines out of commission for several days (we didn’t have power for 10 days at my house). Your girls; trip sounds so fun!
