This week was pretty standard – with the exception of a quick trip to New York City! I had a quick trip in to see a friend whose husband has been in town for medical reasons, and we ended up having a short reunion with 3 of my best high school friends. It was great to see her, even if it was for a short amount of time and also not the best circumstances. So, my weekly workouts were a little off, knowing that I was not home Friday-Sunday. But it did include a run in NYC (albeit in 30 degrees and rain) with my friends!
Anyway, here was the day-by-day:
Sunday: 9 treadmill miles, chest and tri workout, shoulder and leg workout – Sometimes we have good runs, and sometimes we have bad runs. This run wasn’t my favorite. I woke up to 30 degrees with flurries and heavy snow expected at any minute, so I opted to run on the treadmill. My legs I admit that running makes you do crazy things. And this Sunday was one of those days. We had to leave the house by 7 a.m. for my son’s sporting events, which meant I would have to get him up by 6:30 — meaning that if I wanted to get in my long run, I would have to wake up at 4 a.m. – which was 3 a.m. thanks to the time change! But I did it, got up, got in my 8 miles on the treadmill and we made it to our 3 futsal games. My son’s team won 2 of the 3 games, and then we were off to celebrate my mother-in-law’s birthday.
Monday: 3.33 treadmill miles, plus 1.75 miles walking on the treadmill on incline while working, 2.14 miles walking at lunch, Shoulder and leg workout, DR core – I woke up to mid-40s and knew I had to get in an outdoor run. I got in my weigh workout, a short diastasis recti core workout, then got outside for 4.1 miles. I finished up with a 1 mile walk on the treadmill before starting my day.
Tuesday: Speed workout! 8×400 meters with warmup and cool down – 5.1 miles total, plus .5 walk at lunch, back and bicep workout, started leg workout, DR ab exercise and 1.9 mi walk at lunch – I did my strength training workout, a diastasis recti ab workout, and then got my speed workout in. My legs were a little tired so I didn’t get my 400s much higher than 7.2-7.6, mph but I was glad to have gotten in some activity. I also got in a short walk at lunch with coworkers, mostly around the office because it was COLD outside!
Wednesday: Easy day – 3.5 miles running plus .5 mile walk, leg workout, DR ab exercise, 2.72 mile walk at lunch – I knew I wanted to get in a long run on Thursday, so I kept Wednesday easy with some slow short miles after my DR exercises and leg workout. I also was lucky enough to get in a walk at lunchtime when it was 50 degrees and sunny!
Thursday: 9.5 miles on the treadmill – Since I had plans to be out of town over the weekend, I wanted to get my long run in during the week. I decided Thursday would be the perfect day! I woke up to potential snow and it was raining, so I got on the treadmill. I was able to run 7.5 miles, then stopped grabbed water, and then finished the workout. With the long run, I didn’t have time to get in any other exercise like DR or weights, but I had been pretty consistent during the week so I was okay with that. There was an early dismissal at my kids’ school, so I didn’t get to take any walks during the day.
Friday: 4 treadmill miles, short strength workout (biceps and DR/abs) walking – I got up at my usual time, got in a short run on semi-tired legs, and then it was time to get the kids off to school and myself to the airport for a quick trip to NYC to see some friends.
Saturday: 4.09 mile outdoor run in NY, some walking around NYC – I am so lucky to have girl friends who will run with me, even when it’s 35 degrees and rainy! We all actually ended up borrowing clothes from my friend whose place we were staying at – it was cooler than any of us anticipated.

Because of the cruddy weather, most of the day was spent sitting on the couch and catching up. We got in a little walking later in the day but it was mostly just looking like this:

Today: Just a travel day – have to get the airport early, then back in Cleveland in time to take my kids to their extracurriculars and then a family get together and bedtime. It will be my first day off running since I was sick one day in January, so I’m just going to try to enjoy it and tell myself it’s good for my body.
Total: 38.62 miles running and weight training.
- How often do you take off running?
- Did you have cruddy weather this weekend?
I am linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
