Taking Some Time Off Running

4 miles. 4 miles is my total for last week. I ran 4.25 miles on Sunday and that was it for the week.

Before said injury last week …

I’m nursing an ailment (I refuse to say injury). Well, I’m not sure what it is, but it some sort of tight or pulled muscle that might be related to my piriformis or sciatica.  I took most of last week off, but it is still pretty sore and even worse when I’m running. In fact, after Sunday’s run, I could barely walk that day  at all! So, I’m taking it easy.

I spoke to my brother-in-law who is a doctor, and he suggested I do some stretching and take some anti-inflammatory drugs this week and see how it feels.

So, It feels funny to be linking to a running link up when I didn’t run much last week, and I’m sure this coming week won’t be any better.

Please send some healthy vibes my way!

Some questions for you:

  • When was the last time you were nursing an injury ailment?
  • How long do you take off to heal?

Sending healthy vibes your way for sure. Maybe you just need a deep tissue massage in that area.

4 miles is the longest run i’ve been able to do all summer in this heat/humidity!

I have been nursing knee injuries for oh so long from running. When the pain flares up, I usually resort to yoga. Swimming is great too but it takes so long to get to the town pool that I haven’t been yet.

Remind me but have you been to a sports doctor? Just curious.

I also had an injury at the beginning of the year and I thought I was getting better but I didn’t. Finally went to the doctor in March but by then I hadn’t run much for 2 months.

Not yet! I’m going to see if taking some time off and taking Anti-inflammatory medicine this week helps. And some stretches!

You are very smart to take off a few days often times that really helps from turning a small ache into an injury. Hope you feel better

Ugh sorry to hear this. When I first started running I was plagued with an ornery piriformis. Myofascial release helped a ton. I pulled a hamstring at a turkey trot last fall. That took a long time to heal.

What is my myofascial release? I am thinking this is piriformis related.
