Tuesdays on the Run: No Running

This week’s Tuesdays on the Run update will be a little less mileage-focused than usual. Why? Because last week didn’t have any runs.

Due to orders from my doctor, I’ve stopped running for the time being during this pregnancy. That’s right, just as the weather is getting nicer, I’m not running.

I’m hoping this is temporary (and it could be, pending some test results next week!) and the hiatus will be short-lived. But until then, this 32-week pregnant chick has been ordered to take it easy, rest, and stay off my feet when I can.

Am I going a little stir crazy? Just a little … but I know this is not only for my health but for the health of baby #2, so I’m listening to my doctor and playing it safe.

In the meantime, go out for a run for me! And sign up for a race. And if you’re planning on running the Cleveland Marathon or any of the events this may (half marathon, 5k, 8k 10, 1 mile (new!) or kids run, use the code MCCLE10 for 10% off your entry fee. I’m an ambassador for the race, so I get to have fun discounts AND I’ll have a giveaway coming up!

Some questions for you:

  • Are you running any races this spring?
  • What’s the longest you’ve taken off from running?

I’m always a little surprised and a lot impressed by runners who run throughout their pregnancies. It’s got to get tough that last trimester!

I think I have only ever took a few days off and that was because of a vacation, work, or after running a strenuous race. I can’t imagine being told not to run. Can you still stay active and do some other activities that don’t involve running?

I am sorry no running! Injuries are legit the worse. Try to do your best to stay positive and cross train when you can…you’ll get back there

I hope you enjoy your time off of running and don’t feel too restless! I’ll be running the New Jersey Marathon at the end of April…I can’t wait!

Sorry you’re not running right now! It’s definitely more important to take care of yourself and the baby. Hopefully you can get back to it soon!

I’m so impressed that you have been able to run throughout your pregnancy – i just think that’s amazing. Totally understand going a little stir crazy but hopefully you get back to running soon!

I didn’t run at all during my second pregnancy, so I guess I took about 11 months off LOL. Other than that, I’ve only ever taken a week or two off. Hope things keep going well and you are back to running soon.
