After about 12 weeks of getting 40+ miles in a week, I decided to take it “easy” this week.
Looking at totals, I know 30+ miles isn’t quite an easy week. I still ran every day (I’m at 128 days of my running streak!). And, I still got in my step goal (11,000 steps) each day. But I was intentional about not running as much this week and didn’t get in my usual mid-week 7 miler. Instead, here’s what the week looked like:
Sunday was a GREAT run. I don’t know why, but the whole time I felt great. I did a 10K, while B and the kids went on a bike ride. They rode alongside me for about half of it, pushing me to go fast and I even got one sub-9 minute mile. I was elated — I hadn’t felt that good running in some time!
But, Monday, I woke up with some severe plantar fasciitis pain. But I’m pretty serious about #nevermissamonday (I’ve only missed one in 2020, and that was when I had the flu and didn’t even get out of bed!) and didn’t want to mess up my streak, so I decided to try to run 1 mile. It was actually pretty nice outside, so I ended up running and walking a 5k. The rest of the day I stretched, iced, and rolled that foot out. So much that I was able to run every day this week. I’m definitely going to keep an eye on it, and continue to give it some TLC, hoping that it gets better soon.
I also had a few HOT runs this week. It was humid and almost 80 degrees two days before dawn when I ran! As hard as it is to run (and breathe) when it’s that hot and humid out, I still prefer it to freezing temps and am not ready for winter to be here.
My hair is getting SO long (I haven’t been to a hairdresser since the pandemic!), and it was sticky on my neck one morning, so I pulled it up into a running bun! I’ve not had much success with running buns, but for some reason, this morning’s bun stayed put and definitely kept me cool.
And that’s a wrap! We’ll see what next week entails. Hopefully some healing of my foot? We shall see …
Some questions for you:
- Have you ever had plantar fasciitis? How did you get better (without taking days off)?
- How do you do your hair when you run — in a pony tail or something else?
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
