It was a cold, snowy and icy week here in Northeast Ohio. We didn’t get a lot of snow, but each day it seemed I woke up to a new dusting of snow and/or ice. The days were cold, too — most days were in the 20s, and I woke up to weather in the teens for my runs. The cold, combined with the days of somewhat slippery/icy roads, made for not the best running weather. I think it’s safe to say that it’s not even February, but I’m over winter.
I can’t really complain, though. The kids LOVE the snow. And, even if it’s snowy in the morning, I don’t have to drive anywhere for my commute at the time being. And, I have Yaktrax for the icy days, and when it’s too icy, that’s what the treadmill is for, right?
Also, it could always be colder! Check out the temps my parents had earlier in the week — BRR!

Here’s what our week looked like:
Sunday: 5.07 miles outdoor run plus a 2ish mile snowy walk with the family

Monday: 5.25 miles on the dreadmill and then another 2ish mile walk with the family – I had the day off and we went to our local nature center and lakes and walked around there

Tuesday: 5.5 miles on the dreadmill (still too slippery for running)
Wednesday: 5.14 miles outside! I made sure to wear my Yaktrax
Thursday: 5 miles outside – again with the Yaktrax
Friday: 5.2 miles outside – finally was okay not to wear my Yaktrax and it felt great to be in my good old sneakers again
Saturday: 5.02 miles outside and 2 mile walk outside with the family. We met up with B’s parents for a socially distant, masked up, chilly walk and it was GREAT!
Weekly mileage: 36.18 mi
Days run in a row as part of my running streak: 282
I can’t believe it’s just 2.5 weeks until I’ll hit 300! I am wondering if i will – some days the cold, snow and ice makes me want to just stay inside all day and not move. But I do always feel better after a run!
Some questions for you:
- Are you doing any running streaking right now?
- How do you stay motivated to run in the winter or when the weather’s not great?
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
