What should I talk about first? My running streak OR our exciting (only sorta related to running) news?
You know what? I’m sure you’d rather just hear the news … and then we can get into running. So here we go – I’m pregnant! We’re expecting a NEW BABY due this July!

I’m currently 21 weeks pregnant, and feeling good. We aren’t finding out if it’s a boy or a girl (we haven’t found out with our other kids), and I’m still able to run for the most part. In fact, as of this week, I’m at DAY 324 of my running streak! My average run length is 5.5 miles for the streak and I hope to keep it up as long as I’m able to.
Speaking of running, here’s how the week looked:
Sunday: 5.1 treadmill miles — the weather wasn’t too bad out, but I woke up before B and so I was able to get started on the treadmill while the kids had breakfast and I ran beside them. This was my only day indoors!
Monday: 5.75 miles
Tuesday: 6.11 miles
Wednesday: 6.15 miles
Thursday: 6.5 miles – it was 60 degrees so I was able to wear SHORTS!
It was such a gorgeous morning, and i got to watch the sunrise over some nearby lakes.
Friday: 5.75 miles
Saturday: 5.25 treadmill miles – I knew I had to only do about 5 miles to get to 40, so I opted to run inside and watch a movie. I wasn’t in the mood to run in the 22 degree temps, and knew if I got the run over with, I’d have time to go for a walk with the family outside later. Which we did!
Weekly mileage: 40.61 mi — this was my highest weekly mileage of 2021! Yes, not every run was a run (I’m doing some walking within my runs these days), but I’m proud of being 21 weeks pregnant and still feeling pretty good.
Running streak days: 324
In other announcements, this week the Cleveland Marathon announced it was postponed until fall. I’m sad we won’t have the race this May, but I know it was the right decision. I’m a little worried that I won’t be back in running shape in the fall, since I’m due in July and may not have clearance to start running again until September … but we’ll see what fall brings!
Some questions for you:
- Do you have any questions for me about being pregnant/running? Ask away!
- How warm does it have to be for you to wear shorts when running?
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
