A Sluggish Week

I am TIRED. It was a WEEK. We have sick kids (two with coughs/colds, one who is getting over an ear infection and one who had a stomach bug), which means less-than-stellar sleep. Sunday night, I ended up with just over three hours of sleep (and this was right after a few days in a row of GM waking up at 3 a.m. and not going back to sleep) thanks to sick kiddos, and that set me up as very very sleepy all week long. I went to bed at 8:30 Thursday night, which is earlier than usual for me, and still could barely get out of bed when my alarm went off Friday morning at 4:30! Needless to say, I’m ready for a few days off and holiday break.

Knowing that, this week wasn’t my best.  I was NOT feeling my runs this week. I was slow, late getting outside so didn’t have as much time (again, couldn’t get out of bed), and I didn’t put in my daily DR exercises (because I didn’t get out of bed on time). But on the bright side – the weather was great all week and I even got in a run every day (including after said 3.5 hr of sleep night) Hoping that next few weeks are better!

Sunday: 4.1 miles — I LOVE weekends because I can sleep “late” and it’s full sun when I run! I got in a run that made me feel so alive, and loved every minute of it. The sun was out, the sky was blue and I was feeling good about being outside.

Monday: 3.27 miles – With only getting 3ish hours of sleep, I had a goal of only getting in 3 miles. I was tired but knew the run would help wake me up. And it did! Later, I got in a good walk == it was 50 degrees out and I couldn’t resist.

Tuesday: 4.05 miles – I got to sleep in to 5:30, and was grateful for that — still, felt tired.

Wednesday – 4.07 sleepy miles

Thursday – 4.03 miles

Friday: 4.1 miles and some DR exercises – I had gone to bed Thursday night at 8:30, right after my office holiday party, and woke up feeling a little more refreshed than the other days. But still didn’t get out of bed right away.

Saturday: 4.4  miles

total mileage:  28.02 mi

Questions for you:

  • So much crud is going around! Have you/your family been sick lately?
  • What’s the perfect amount of sleep for you?

l am linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

Sorry to hear about all that crud.

All is good here but no kids at home.

I need 7 hours. But my sleep is already restless so I’m often feeling tired.

Still you got in a lot of miles.

Sorry to hear that kids were all sick this week. Sometimes, we have to forego some workouts to get more sleep. It is ok! Hope you are all feeling better next week

Sorry the tough week, Melissa! Hopefully everyone has rallied back by now (or will soon). You still had a decent week of mileage considering the lack of sleep 😉

oh gosh, I’m so sorry about all the sickness! And only 3 hours of sleep, holy moly…you are a tough lady! I hope this week involves a bit more sleep 🙂

Oh my goodness, the woes of sick kids! I hope they are better and that you won’t get what they had! it must be hard to get proper exercise in after those sleepless nights. I know I wouldn’t be able to do 5K after only 3 hours sleep!
There’s a lot of nasty stuff going around but I’m ok so far. I think I’m quite not-picky with sleep, I tend to be ok after 6 hours. Perhaps after I worked nights for quite a few years.

Mr PugRunner has been unwell (although not sick in a crud or contagious sense), and we are dealing with that. It can be draining for the whole house. The flu is going around, too. Ugh.

I hope you are all on the mend and back to yourselves soon.

My kiddos have been sick a ton this week too. (Actually pretty much they’ve been sick for the last month and a half it feels. We just cannot shake this sickness). It’s been a rough year for that. And I definitely feel as though the mom exhaustion that follows has made me refuse to work out. I’ve got to get back into the swing of it!!

Welcome to I Crashed The Web — proof that I’ve been oversharing online since the early days of blogging. It started as a blog (back when that was cool), morphed into a mom blog (when that was cool), and now it’s my happy place for all the things I love: running, baking, reading, traveling and life with my family of five.
