Another Year for CLE!

Guess who’s back?!

Me!

I’m back as a Cleveland Marathon race ambassador. I announced my return last week and am excited to meet the new ambassadors and get started with training for the 2024 half marathon/5k challenge series again.

I’m excited to be back, but also enjoying my time off from training. I am enjoying just waking up, running what I want to run, and keeping my base miles going.

Which is exactly what I did this week! We lucked out and had GREAT weather most of the week – and I mean no snow or frigid temps to get in the way of my runs. That meant I got in some morning miles PLUS one day in shorts! Here’s what it looked like:

Sunday: 6.22 miles running + 2.7 miles walking with the fam. It was a beautiful day and we somehow ended up having a Sunday with nothing planned for the first time in ages, so after I got in my run, the whole family went on an adventure – we went for a hike together. I was impressed that GM walked the whole time! He ran up the hills and through the trails – he loves being outside and active, which is great.

Monday: 5.04 miles, core workout and 1.6 mile walk. I was so glad to wake up to a relatively warm morning (capris were great!) and no rain. I got in a walk with GM after the big kids were off to school and was pleasantly surprised with the sunlight – the past few weeks were DARK in the mornings but thanks to the clock changes, it was bright.

Tuesday: 5.09 mi run plus core workout and 4.2 miles walking and 15 minute cycling. I couldn’t believe how warm it was out when I went for my run in the dark. It was warm enough for shorts, before sunrise, on Nov. 7! I had fun running in shorts and even ran faster than I typically do, finishing under a 10 min/mile pace. I also got in lots of walking and even a short indoor bike ride later in the day.

Wednesday: 4.11 miles run, 2.11 mile walk and core workout. I felt GREAT on my runs Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. I even ran under 10 minutes miles Monday and Tuesday, which used to be my “easy” pace but has gotten harder since GM was born. But Wednesday was the exception – I woke up TIRED and barely got out of bed before I typically like to be outside running. I managed to get in some core work and a shorter run. Then I was able to get in a walk with GM before work.

Thursday: 4.51 miles run, 2 mile walk, 23 min easy cycling and core workout. I woke up later than I would’ve liked, and after my short core workout, I had to cut my run short (I wanted to get in 5 miles). But later in the day I had some time before work and at lunch to get in a walk with coworkers and then a little EASY cycling. I sometimes walk on the treadmill while proofreading but decided today to try cycling while proofreading and it worked out really well! I enjoyed it.

Friday: 5.07 mi run plus 2 miles walking. I had to wake up early, but stayed in bed 30 minutes after my alarm went off. Yikes! Luckily, I made it out the door and still had time for a 5 mile run. AFter the run, I was also able to get in a 2 mile walk with GM before taking him to a dr appt. The weather was chilly but it was turning into a beautiful day!

Saturday: 4.01 miles run and 2ish mile walk I had time for a short run and it was great getting out in the daylight! It was supposed to rain but the day ended up being dry. Then I took a walk with LM later in the day.

Total mileage: 34.05 mi

Questions for you:

  • Are you an ambassador for anything? How did you know when to apply?
  • How is the weather near you? we had a good weather week thankfully!

I am linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

I am always amazed that you run almost every day–with 3 young kids! I struggled to get out there 4 days per week when my guys were young.

Congrats on your ambassadorship! Yes, I’m currently finishing my second year with Brooks. They have us share the application on our social, so it makes it easy for people to know when to apply. I hope I get asked back for another year!

It is nice to have down time to just run when you want and not follow a training plan for a race. I’m impressed that you can run 6 days a week! Congrats on your ambassador for Cleveland again. I am finishing my 3rd year w Brooks and I hope to be back on the team again next year

Nice job on your runs and congrats to GM for doing that hike on those little legs!

Congrats on being selected as a Cleveland Marathon ambassador! I’m an ambassador for Pactimo (a cycling/running clothing company) and Honey Stinger.

Yay on being an ambassador again. You do a great job of sharing your enthusiasm for it!

I haven’t been an ambassador in ages. It’s too complicated with my work rules.

    Congrats to you!

I always forget to apply. AndI don’t have a lot of followers.

I was Skirtsports but they closed. And Zensah but I lost my code. LOL.

As Coco said, it’s too hard to follow the rules.

Busy week, but you got it all done! I do a lot of reading on the bike (if I’m not doing an actual “workout”). I find it MUCH easier to read than if I were on the treadmill 😉

Yes, I’m an unofficial ambassador for “Pumpkin Palooza.” Just kidding, although sometimes I feel like that.
You are definitely a good ambassador for this race! I’m be interested to follow along your training. Your base mileage is pretty high, you probably just need to add a longer run once a week. Of course you do this every year so you know how to train!

Congratulations! That’s awesome! You did such a great job promoting last time – they are lucky to have you.

I am an ambassador for a few things. Sometimes they email when it’s time to re-up. Sometimes, I find out from social media or a friend.

Welcome to I Crashed The Web — proof that I’ve been oversharing online since the early days of blogging. It started as a blog (back when that was cool), morphed into a mom blog (when that was cool), and now it’s my happy place for all the things I love: running, baking, reading, traveling and life with my family of five.
