SNOWvember

This week, winter came out of hiding and said hello to Northeast Ohio. That’s right, we had SNOW (and several inches) on Tuesday, which made my usual morning running routine a little messy and more difficult than usual. Between the snow – which meant a snow day for the kids – and then FW being home sick – it was a wonky week and I was not able to get as much done as I had hoped. But, I was also very GRATEFUL this week to have access to a home gym that we have been building up for the past few months.

November was a good month for me. Got in a few miles, and finally some activities besides running – including indoor cycling and rowing machine! And of course, core work 3-5x a week. My total mileage was 140.09 miles, which isn’t my highest month, but also not my lowest.

Here’s what the week looked like:

Sunday: 5 miles running. I was tired after being in the car for so long/late the night before, but wanted to get outside and run before we were due for some rain/cold later in the day. I luckily made it out for a run because I didn’t leave the house at all after that!

Monday: 5.01 mile run and core workout. Back to normal! I got in a run and core workout outside. It was cold, but at least it wasn’t snowing or raining.

Tuesday: 20 minutes on the rowing machine, 22 minutes on the bike, 5.01 miles on the treadmill and core workout. I woke up to snow coming down and blowing and “feels like” single digits so I opted inside. I didn’t want to wake anyone up, so I started on the quiet rowing machine and bike. Then, I got a text that schools were closed for a snow day, so I knew I had more time than usual to work out – that’s when I got in my 5 treadmill miles. And miraculously, the kids slept through that too! They all ended up waking up about an hour later than we usually wake them up, thanks to the snow day.

Wednesday: 5.03 treadmill miles and core work. It was feels like in the single digits when I woke up and we still had 5+ inches of snow, so I opted for the treadmill. I made a goal to get in 3 miles but I made it 4 and then 5. I was happy to get in a full workout even if indoors.

Thursday: 5.82 treadmill miles and core workout. It was warmer when I woke up (a balmy 28 degrees!) but the streets weren’t plowed fully and it was icy, so I decided to stay on the treadmill again. I finished watching Beckham, which I really enjoyed. FW plays soccer, but I never was really into it growing up and didn’t know much of his story or the stories shared in the documentary. I do love Posh Spice though 🙂

Friday: 5.2 mi treadmill. It was rainy and 40s when I was ready to run and I honestly thought about running outside – the rain had melted much of the snow! But I opted inside again and this time watched some Manifest before taking the day off with B for some holiday shopping.

Saturday: 6.04 miles – half treadmill, half stroller! After all the rain, the majority of the snow was melted and I was grateful to be get in a few stroller miles with GM before he had a dr appointment. After getting in about half my run in with the stroller (it was 50 degrees out!) I finished up on the treadmill to get to a little over 6 miles.

Total mileage: 37.09 mi

This was my 3rd highest mileage week this year so far! I’m traveling next week and may not be able to run much(if at all) so I wanted to get in as many miles as I could this week.

Questions for you:

  • Did you get some wintry weather?

How was your November?

I am linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

  1. We had some snow and cold this week too! And like you the rain washed it all away. I ended up doing a TM run on Friday because of the cold rain.

Nice miles for November! It’s amazing how many miles you get in!

  2. We had much colder temps this week but no snow here. You sure did make the most of your week. I am always impressed by your tread miles. Have a great week and safe travels

  3. Wow, you got in some great running miles this week. You must be loving having the basement gym for just such snowy days (weeks). No snow for us yet here in the DC metro area…

  4. Your kids already had a snow day? I bet you weren’t expecting that in November. Nice job on the running miles, and yay for having a home gym- can you imagine trying to get through the winter without it?
We had “Florida winter” weather- ie down to the 50s overnight. It was amazing.

  5. You had a solid week!

We got a blast of cold, but no snow. I’m actually hoping to see a bit of snow when I go to Chicago tomorrow, although I won’t have time to run in it,

  6. Our weather was ok this week. Miserable and rainy today… glad it’s a rest day.

Obviously you don’t mind the treadmill… you got in a lot of miles.

    Me… never! LOL>

  7. Nice job banking those miles 😉 The snow we got last weekend, stuck around a few days, but was gone by Wednesday noon. Good riddance, LOL!

  8. Fellow Clevelander! We had about 6 inches at my house on the east side. I used to always enjoy going for a run in the first snow of the year, but this year we’ve got a newborn, and it didn’t seem right to leave mom at home alone with him while I went galavanting!
