Well, I did it. A full week with no running. Did I like it? No. Would I like to continue doing this? No! But I know that I need to take some time off now so that hopefully I can be back sooner than if I keep going through the pain.
That said, I stayed somewhat active this week – I didn’t run, but I stayed on the indoor bike most days and got in a few walks, as well as my core and arm work. But when looking at my running log, this is the longest I’ve gone without running since GM was born – that was the last time I took a full week (and more) off from running.
Here’s how the full week looked:
Sunday: 2.25 miles walking, core work and pilates – I had so much fun at the Training Season Kickoff Run for the Cleveland Marathon! But then I woke up Sunday and was SORE. Running 5 miles was not a good idea on my hip adductor. So I decided to take the day off and not even bike in the morning. I did a pilates video, core video and then later in the day got out for a walk with GM in the sunshine.
Monday: core plus 1 hour bike with a little arms, plus 2.17 mile walk – I hopped on the bike before work and finished the Crown! I can’t believe the series is done with. While on the bike, I used a light kettlebell and did some arm workouts every few minutes or so. That afternoon, I got outside for a short walk in the sunshine (yay!) – it was cold but the sun brightened my spirits.
Tuesday: core plus 1 hour bike with a little arms and 2.35 mi walking – It was another biking day! I got in 1 hour on the bike after some core work. I also did some arm workouts while on the bike. At lunch, it was sunny out and I was working from home, so I got in a nice walk to the lake.
Wednesday: 50 minute bike ride (with some arms), core work – I got in another morning bike ride before heading into the office. I started another movie – I was looking for award-nominated movies so I started the new Natalie Portman movie, May to December.
Thursday: 45 minute bike ride, core work and 4 miles walking – It was a GORGEOUS day out – I’m talking nearly 60 degrees – so I had to get outside for a walk. It was sunny and the Vitamin D was good for my soul.

Friday: 50 minute bike, core work and 4 mile walk – I started watching Nyad while on the bike, and am enjoying it. It was also FIFTY DEGREES out! I was sad not to be out running in shorts, but I did get to enjoy the weather with a little walk.
Saturday: 55 minutes on the bike, core work and 2.85 mile walk – GM woke up early, so I got in a bike ride before everyone else in the house was awake. Then, it was 50 degrees out and I was able to get in 2 short walks between the daily activities — basektball, ice skating, piano lessons, grocery shopping and soccer. It was a busy day but I was glad to be able to get outside.
Not running-related, but all this extra time without running has given me more time to take walks and bake! I made these Football-Shaped Chocolate Peanut Butter Balls (Buckeyes) for the Super Bowl – they’re so easy and cute.

Questions for you:
- What’s the longest you haven’t run recently?
- Did you get any nice weather recently?
I am linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
