Someone recently told me that the Fourth of July is the “halfway point” of summer and I’m not okay with that – as I keep preaching, I LOVE summer and don’t want it to end!!
If you’re experiencing deja vu, it’s because I am acting somewhat like a broken record and yes, I did start my last weekly recap post like that. So I’ll move on and instead share more about my week and month. Now that June is gone, here’s how it looked:
- 155.54 miles run
- Several days of other activities including walking, indoor biking and also some arm workouts, planking and pushups
- 1 race – a 5K with FW

I was very happy with the month – it was a high mileage month and I ended it on a strong note with a 10 miler! Okay, here’s how the full week looked:
Sunday: 10.35 mile run, push ups – This was an unintentional double digit run, and I felt great! I went out for a “long run” which in my mind was longer than 6 — I was aiming for 7-8 miles to start off my week and end June. Anyway, I got to somewhere between 6 and 7 and texted B to ask him how long he thought I should run for and he said “10” to which I thought, why not? I stopped at a water fountain around mile 3 and unfortunately accidentally stopped my workout at that point, so instead of a clean “10” on my watch/phone, my run looked like it was broken into two shorter runs, but I guess that’s okay. I know I still did the work! I got home, did some stretching, and later got in my push ups. I’m up to being able to do 15 without stopping and while it sounds like not a lot, I’m pretty proud of that!
Monday: 4.2 mile run, 20ish minutes on the indoor bike, planking (including side ones), 1.25 mi walk and push ups – It was cool out and I wasn’t sure how my legs would feel after my 10 miler on Sunday. They felt pretty good, but I didn’t want to push it so I stayed slow and didn’t do my usual 5 mile route. I somehow slept through my first alarm so didn’t have as much time as I would’ve liked, but still was happy to get in some running and cycling before heading into the office. Later I got in a 1.25 mile stroller walk with GM while FM and LM were at swimming lessons.
Tuesday: 6.2 miles running, planking and pushups, 15 minutes on the indoor bike – I stayed in bed too long again but somehow made it out of the house and it was a BEAUTIFUL morning! It was only 60s out and I just kept running. I was aiming for 5 miles but decided to keep going since I felt so good and made it a full 10K before cooling down on the bike.

Wednesday: 6.33 miles running, 17 minutes indoor bike, planking and pushups, 2 mile walk – I got in a little longer run again and then spent some time on the indoor bike before starting my day. It was another great morning for a run! It was 73 degrees already at sunrise, but I had a tank top on and didn’t mind the temps. After the 80-90 degree humid days of a few weeks ago, I felt great on this run! At lunchtime I got out for a quick 2 mile walk. I dillydallied and only really had 30 minutes to spare, but I still got in my 2 mile route.
Thursday: 6.01 miles running, planking and pushups, 13 minutes on the bike – Happy Fourth! It was nice to sleep in and get in a run while the house was asleep and just waking up. It actually was raining when I was about to go out – and I’m talking pouring rain – so I decided to hop on the bike first. It cleared up for a little, so I made it out. Despite my weather app saying it wasn’t going to rain, it did mist on and off during the run. Since it was in the 80s I didn’t really mind, though I was soaking wet when I got home. I don’t mind the rain when it’s warm, but I don’t love the feeling of soaked feet.
We enjoyed the day off by taking the kids to a nearby kids gym where they burned some energy. That afternoon we went to a cookout at B’s sister’s house. I brought some treats and after dinner we all made s’mores!

Friday: 5.01 mile run, 10 min on the indoor bike, some core work plus planking and pushups, then 1.8 mile walk and some tennis – I decided to take the day off and enjoyed waking up late and getting in a run while the kids were just waking up. It was a little hot out but overall a beautiful morning! Later in the morning we went out to play tennis with the kiddos, and then at naptime I got in a 1.8 mi walk.
Saturday: 2.6 miles running, 49 minutes on the indoor bike, kettlebell arms, abs, planking and pushups, 1 mile walk- I wanted to let B sleep in, so when GM got up, I brought him into the basement with me and did a bike workout. I also did some abs and arms, and then when B got up, I went out to run a few miles. I wanted to get in 2 miles to make it to 40 miles for the week, and I did it! It was a good start to the month.
Total: 40.22 mi of running plus some indoor cycling workouts, walking, planking and push ups
Questions for you:
- How often do you get to 40 miles in a week? It doesn’t happen often, especially since I’m not marathon training.
- Did you do anything for the Fourth of July?
