A mixed-up, meh week

Well, this was a mixed-up and meh week! Not only was I sick (yay for covid), but we had a few other things going out that made it a different-from-usual week. With school starting halfway through the week, I was out of routine. With getting COVID, I was tired, under the weather and out of breath. With the return of fall schedules and fall sports, I was nearly out of time. And with some personal things going on in our lives, we were all out of sorts.

Thankfully, I was still able to get out and run. I didn’t get in any long runs or anything out of the ordinary, but I’m glad I was able to get some movement in. And most days, the running made me feel better, if not physically, then at least emotionally.

Here’s what the week looked like:

Sunday: 4 mile run, 3.5 mile hike, planking and push ups –  I had planned on getting in a long run before FW’s soccer game, but it kept saying there was going to be a big storm. I decided to play it safe and head home when it started to drizzle, so I only got in 6ish. It did end up raining, but didn’t end up storming so I probably could’ve ran even longer. Oh well!

Monday: 4.71 mile run – I only managed to get in a short run Monday; I was out of breath more than normal and more tired. I would later in the week learn this was because I had covid, so this makes sense.

Tuesday: 5 miles running, push ups, ~2 mile lunch walk – I definitely felt sick-ish during this run. Nothing major, but needed to stop and walk a few times, felt warmer than usual and just overall fatigued. The run did, however, help me feel back to myself, and I went about my day as normal.

Last sunrise run for a while!

Wednesday: 4.5 miles running, planks and push ups, ~2 mile walk

Thursday: 3.3 miles running, pushups, planking, ~4 miles walking

I was definitely just going through the motions on Wednesday and Thursday’s workouts. I was glad to get them in, but especially on Thursday, the run was very much a run/walk in the morning, followed by some walking later in the day to help clear my head. Now that we’re back to school, there’s no more daytime for my runs, which is so disappointing.

First day of school!

Friday: 5.01 mi run, planks and pushups, then 3.3 miles walking – I stayed in bed longer than I should’ve, but after getting in my planks and pushups, I was feeling surprisingly good. I decided to get in 3-4 miles, and when my time was up at 4.2 miles, I decided to keep going. Hey, it was Friday and I didn’t have to go into the office, so I could cut time out of getting ready (or that’s what I told myself). I finished up to get to 5 miles before it was time to head out the door with the kids for the bus stop.

I got in two walks during the day – one in the morning and a short one at lunch time.

Saturday: 5.01 miles running, push ups and planks – We had a somewhat early day – we had to leave the house before 9 for FW’s first flag football game and then a piano lesson. So, I set an alarm and somehow didn’t feel it go off until 15 minutes later. I still made it outside for a 5 mile run. I ran faster than I usually do so was able to get in my run despite waking up later.

Total: 33.93 mi of running plus some planking and push ups

Questions for you:

  • Have you been sick recently?
  • Did you lose your taste or smell when you had covid?

I am linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

  1. Yep, Covid is going around again! I only had it once, on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day two years ago (still mad about that) and I didn’t lose taste or smell. Sounds like you got over it pretty quickly, since your run on Friday felt so good.

You definitely had quite a week, with school starting and Covid. I hope next week is more… normal?

  2. That’s a lot of running through Covid! I know a few people who’ve had it recently and am looking forward to getting my next vaccine. 😉 I hope you are feeling 100% soon!

Love your littles’ school uniforms — brings back memories!

  3. Seems like a lot of people are getting covid again. Surprised you could do all of that running while sick. Hope your kids don’t get it and they have a great start to school

  4. I’ve been feeling fine but I am working really hard to take care of myself. I didn’t lose my taste or smell when I had it, but A did. He says eggs still taste weird to him. 😦

  5. Wow, all that activity with Covid! I’ve had it twice, both times were very mild cases for me (one without symptoms; the other with fatigue/brain fog for a day). I heard it’s back (and will probably never go away). My youngest has had it twice as well. Her first time (fall 2020) was pretty severe, and her sense of taste was jacked up for a long time thereafter. Her second time (2022) was pretty much symptom-free. It’s such a weird virus, and affects everyone so differently!

  6. Back to school routine is so bittersweet! Sorry the sunrise runs will be going away, but so many fun school things are ahead! I did have COVID and it kicked my butt for a few days. Luckily no long term problems. My son has escaped it, but the rest of us has had it.
