Well, suddenly it got COLD here in Northeast Ohio, at least in the mornings when I run. One morning it was in the 30s and I was in a headband and gloves! This is a stark difference from last week, when it was I was in shorts. I have to admit that this makes it harder for me to get outside, but once I’m outside, I warm up and am fine. We also had some cold rainy mornings, which impacted my schedule. I typically run long on Sundays but it poured most of Sunday morning, and B wasn’t home, so my schedule was a little out of whack. It also rained Thursday. Thank goodness for a home gym and cross training!
Here’s what the week looked like – it was cooler and DARK, as I didn’t get to run in daylight at all this week:
Sunday: 1.35 miles treadmill running, 25 minutes on the indoor bike, chest and tricep workout, push ups and planks – I woke up to 40s and rain. And not just a drizzle, but pouring very extremely loud (aka orange on the radar) rain. I knew that this meant I’d likely not get out for a run, so I got a quick and short treadmill run in, a short bike ride, and then decided to start my weightlifting workout for Monday. No reason I can’t switch days, right?
Monday: Shoulder and leg workout, 6.27 mile run, 2.03 mile walk – Hooray for a long run on a Monday! I got in a nice run after not being able to run Sunday and felt pretty good. At lunch time, I got in a walk with my brother before his flight left. It was lovely – with him living in Berlin, I hardly ever get one on one time with him and I never take it for granted.
Tuesday: Start of my bicep and back workout, 4.1 miles running, 16 minutes on the bike, 1.5 miles walking – I had gotten in my shoulder/leg workout on Monday so I decided to start Wednesday’s usual bicep and back workout before getting in some biking and running. Later, I got a walk around the office with some coworkers at lunch time.
Wednesday: Finished my bicep and back workout and started my leg workout; mini core workout; 3.7 miles walking and 5.04 miles running – This was a COLD morning! I got dressed in layers and then luckily only had some of my arm workout to do because I had started it the day before. With that, I had some time to get in a little longer run than I usually get in the middle of the week – 5 miles! I had a fleece head band, gloves and full length pants and jacket for the first time this year. It wasn’t too bad, but I definitely missed last week’s shorts weather.
Thursday: 3.3 miles running, rest of my leg workout, diastasis recti workout, push ups, 15 minutes indoor cycling, 2.6 miles treadmill walking – I got up just as it was starting to rain. 40 degrees and rainy – again! This time, however, it looked like it was going to only get worse and stronger as the morning went on, so I switched things up. I immediately got my running clothes on and went outside. It definitely got heavier as my run went on, but I told myself to do “just 1 mile” and then “just 2,” which turned into a 5K (plus a little extra). By the end it was definitely pouring so I was happy to get home to do my leg workout and bike a little bit. Later, I got in some treadmill walking while working – it was raining most of the day and I had a lot to get done, so it was nice to get in steps while working as well.

As you can see, it wasn’t going to clear up anytime soon
Friday: 6.24 miles running and core work, 2.14 miles walking – I had gotten my covid shot on Thursday and wasn’t sure how I’d feel Friday morning – but aside from a little soreness in my arm, I felt fine! I usually get flu-like but woke up feeling okay and was happy to get in a run in 49 degrees. So much better than Wednesday and Thursday’s weather! I celebrated with a 10K followed by some core work and a lunchtime walk.
Saturday: 5.71 miles running – We had another early Saturday (had to be at soccer at 7:30) so once again, I set my alarm to get out for a run. I stayed in bed a little longer than I anticipated, but still was glad to get in almost 6 miles before our day. FW ended up doing 2 soccer games, basketball practice AND piano lessons – so he (and we) had a busy day!

So dark out! But got that run in.
Total: 33.36 miles running! Plus some walking, weight training, and indoor cycling.
- Did it get COLD near you this week? I wore gloves, a hat and jacket one day!
- Do you have reactions to vaccines?
I am linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

This week was definitely a switch back to ‘normal’ fall–which I didn’t care much for, lol. It’s supposed to be sunny today, which will be a nice change of pace!
How nice that you were able to run with your brother! So you ever visit him in Berlin?
yup. Winter arrived here too. Makes me want to stay in bed. The problem is now I have to run after work and it’s dark. Yes. Wore a beanie and gloves. Luckily never a reaction to vaccines. So far.

Well. I hate to say it but our weather is FINALLY starting to get nice. We had some mornings down to the 60s, and next week is forecast for overnight temps in the 50s, which I LOVE. I’ve spent the entire fall being envious of you northerners but now I’m remembering why I live in Florida.
Nice job in getting all those workouts in! It is SO hard to get up in the cold and dark. And rain- ugh.
Nice job on your workouts! There’s nothing wrong with mixing up your lifting days as long as you’re allowing 48 hours recovery time for muscle groups.
We had a little bit of rain this week, but not much. We could use a lot more because we’ve been so dry this fall. The rain and wind brought down the remainder of our beautiful fall leaves so it looks much more like winter now. And yes, I’m wearing my gloves for my walks and bike rides.
I got my flu shot this past week and it didn’t hurt much, just a slightly sore arm. The vaccination that got knocked me for a loop was one of the two shingrix (shingles) shots.
we have had some gorgeous fall weather if only we could bottle it! Nice to se you keeping up w your strength sessions. I sometimes get a mild reaction to vaccines

It got cold and windy here as well. Lots of rain as well. Great job sticking with the strength-training!
No winter for us. The temps are, however, finally in an acceptable range, and I’ve even had to wear long sleeves a few days. That makes me happy, though. It’s a nice break from the heat.
Winter weather is coming here this week, after a very mild November so far. I’m not looking forward to it.
Great work with your strength training and everything else!
