I can’t believe that it is ALMOST THE HOLIDAY SEASON! Yes, all CAPS is completely necessary — because I cannot WAIT for the holidays. It is truly my favorite time of year. I love all the cooking, baking, time with family, time off work, and the magic of the season with my kids. I don’t love how my schedule gets out of whack and workouts don’t always happen as planned, but I deal with it however I can. This week was pretty normal with the exception of our first snowfall on Thursday into Friday. This impacted my outdoor running, and I am not ready for winter to be here. Yes, I love the holidays – but not the wintry weather that we often get with it!
Despite the weather, I got in some alright workouts this week. Here’s what the week looked like:
Sunday: 9.04 miles, push ups and planks – It was 40 degrees when I woke up and looked like it was going to be 39/40 degrees for my entire workout, which was kind of perfect for running. A little chilly (running with gloves is not my favorite) but I felt good almost the entire time! And I was fast (for me, for a long run).

Monday: Chest and tricep workout, pushups and planks, 4 mile run, 2 mile walk, then start of shoulder and leg workout – I somehow ended up starting my weight workout later I usually do, and found myself rushing to get it done and still have time to run. I debated running 3 miles and then doing 15 min on teh bike, but since the weather was so mild (50 degrees!) I opted to just get in a four mile run. It was beautiful later on and I got in a 2 mile walk during lunch. Later that evening, I had some time to kill and decided to get started on Tuesday’s workout – shoulders and legs. Is it cheating if I do part of it a day early?
Tuesday: Finishing shoulder and leg workout, Start of my bicep and back workout, 5 miles running, 26 minutes on the bike, 2 miles walking – I had gotten in some of my shoulder/leg workout on Monday evening so I decided to start Wednesday’s usual bicep and back workout before getting in some biking and running. I had a great run! The weather was perfect – you can’t complain about 50+ degrees before 5 a.m.! After the big kids got on the bus to school, I was able to get in a 2.14 mile walk with GM. It was a beautiful morning! I then got in 1.25 miles on the treadmill while working – I love getting in some mid-day steps while being productive.
Wednesday: Finished my bicep and back workout and started my leg workout; standing core workout; 4 miles running, 1.6 miles walking – The weather was great, but for some reason, I wasn’t feeling the run. I stopped to walk 2x, which I haven’t done lately, and didn’t have any motivation to continue (But did). I
Thursday: 4 miles running, rest of my leg workout, standing ab workout, push ups, 1 mile walking – I had a busy day and not much time to get in a workout or a walk during the day with early dismissal for the kids from school and a few meetings during my work day. Still, glad to get it done and any day I can run after a leg day is a good day!
Friday: 3 miles running, 15 minutes on the bike – I could NOT get out of bed on Friday. I somehow slept through my alarm (HOW does this happen?!) and when I got up, did not have as much time as I would’ve liked to work out. And then when I looked outside- there was SNOW. It had snowed overnight for our official first snow. Brr! Because I didn’t have as much time as usual to work out, I really didn’t want to get on the bike or rower – so I bundled up and headed outside. The good thing about the snow was that it looked pretty, and made it brighter out. The bad thing was that it made the streets slushy and slippery – and it started raining when I was 1.5 miles in! I made it a 5K and called it a morning. My feet were soaked and I was tired of slipping/sliding and taking walking breaks to avoid falling on areas that were too slippery.

Smiling because it looks pretty and I did it. Not because I like snow – because honestly, I don’t!
Saturday: 5.38 miles running – These were some cool and drizzly miles – not what I was anticipating! At least the snow was gone, but I was soaked within a mile of this run. I kept going though, and when I finished, we all headed to Skyzone for some jumping! I love going on the trampolines with the kids – it’s so much fun and they love it. And it’s a great workout!
Total: 34.77 miles running! Plus some walking, weight training, and indoor cycling.
- Any snow yet near you?
- Do you run when it’s raining? Any tips for staying dry and warm, especially when it’s 40 degrees?
I am linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
