We did it! We made it through November without an injury. AND we made it through a crazy week of travels, AND I still got in some activity. It wasn’t a high week, but it wasn’t a low week and I’ll take what I can get.
Here’s what the week looked like:
Sunday: 7.58 mile outdoor run
It was chilly out but I got up semi-early for a Sunday and got outside by around 7:30! I went out with no goals, just to run 6-8 miles. And I got right in there! It was a great day, I got in a little walking and then headed home. I was cold but glad to have gloves on because my hands always seem to be colder than the rest of me.
Monday: 3.1 mile treadmill run/walk, leg day, 2.2 mile treadmill walk, 2.21 mile outdoor walk
Yay for a short week! I went to bed later than I like (after 10:30, yes I’m an early bird) on Sunday and I struggled getting out of bed Monday. But it’s a short week and only 2 days I have to get up before 5 a.m.! So I got up, did my leg workout, and then got in a run/walk on the treadmill. I also got in some walking on the treadmill AND outside later in the day.
Tuesday: 3.5 mile treadmill run, core, shoulder/tri workout, 2 mile treadmill walk on incline
The morning flew by! I was up later again on Monday after helping the kids pack and then think about my packing list (full disclosure – B did most of the kid packing), but was glad to get in some lifting and movement before our car trip.
Wednesday: Rest day! Only 7,350 steps or so.
Lots of time in the car on the way to Connecticut, with a little walking around Pennsylvania.
Thursday: Stratford Turkey Trot 5k, plus a short (2ish miles) treadmill run
Another year, another Turkey Trot tradition! My oldest and I did the 5K, while GM and LM did the kids fun run. Then, I was able to sneak in a short treadmill run while everyone relaxed.

Friday: most of shoulder workout, plus 3.1 mi treadmill run
I didn’t expect to get in a workout before our car ride back to Cleveland, but whej B suggested I hit the hotel gym while the kids were still waking up, I jumped at the chance. I got in a short treadmill run and had time for part of a weight workout before starting our day. Before getting in the road, the big kids had fun in the hotel pool while GM and I played ping pong in the game room. He really wanted to swim, but can’t for 6 weeks since he had had surgery a week prior.
Saturday: 4 miles on the treadmill, finished shoulder workout and started back and bicep workout
We did not get home until late Friday night, so I didn’t get to bed until after midnight, so I was tired Saturday morning! I still got in a short treadmill workout before we went out to breakfast and then headed into the car for another trip – this time to meet up with B’s family for their annual post-Thanksgiving bowling outing.

Total: 26.73 miles running, plus walking and weights
Some questions for you:
- Do you typically travel for Thanksgiving?
- Did you Turkey Trot this year?
