WE MADE IT TO FEBRUARY! Despite my birthday being in January, it’s still one of the longest months in the year for me. After the fun of the holidays, January always seems to be a little slow, and the weather we experienced didn’t help.
This week included – once again – lots of treadmill time, some weights and really, just a lot of time indoors. It warmed up to 20 degrees (!) a few days, but the mornings were still cold, snowy and icy. The week also included a short trip to Hocking Hills with family, which interrupted my running streak. But we all know that a rest day can be good!
Here’s what the week looked like:
Sunday: 8.25 treadmill miles running
LM had a Girl Scouts field trip in the morning, so I set my alarm to get in a run before heading to the Art Museum with her. I got in a long (for me) run, but it was cut short by GM waking up and me getting him settled. On Sunday long runs, I like to make him breakfast and bring him into the basement with me so he watches a movie while I run. Is the screen time the best for him? Probably not, but it lets me get in a run, the big kids aren’t woken up early, and B gets to sleep in. And, GM gets some time to watch whatever he wants, which is often overruled by the big kids – this weekend he watched Chicken Little and some Cars shorts. So it’s a win, win, win!

Later we had a Girl Scout field trip to the art museum, then got in some meal prep before dinner with B’s family.

Monday: 4.1 treadmill miles, leg workout, started chest workout, core, 2.5 treadmill miles walking
Back to a (hopefully) normal week! I got up early, got in some weights, and then got in my run. And then went into the office for work! It was nice to drive in the sun and no snow (not counting all the snow on the ground).
Tuesday: 4.5 treadmill run, 1.5 treadmill walk, core workout, chest and tricep workout
No idea why, but I had trouble sleeping Monday night into Tuesday … so Tuesday morning came quickly! My goal has been to be in bed by 10 … but Monday night I was doom scrolling after 11 still, and then sleep was not so smooth. I did get out of bed shortly after my alarm and got in my workout before another drive in. It did snow a little on my commute, but nothing crazy – hoping that this week is a warmer and dryer week!
Wednesday: 4.5 mile treadmill run, 2.6 mile treadmill walk, shoulder workout
I made it to bed on time Tuesday night (woohoo!) and was awake and lifting weights by 5 a.m. Wednesday. It was another cold, snowy day so I stayed inside.
Thursday: 4 mile treadmill run, 1.75 mile treadmill walk, core workout
I was dragging this morning – I somehow found myself starting my run 40 minutes later than I usually start my workout. Whoops! Got it in, but barely. I had plans to take a lunchtime walk – first time in ages! – but at 11:30 a.m. I got a call from school to pick up FW, who was feeling sick. Ahh well – the rest of the afternoon was spent working while making sure he felt okay.
Friday: 7 miles on the treadmill and 1.3 mile treadmill walk
It was an EARLY day for me — B had to leave before the kids went to school for an early meeting, and I also had an early meeting, so I got up extra early to get in a run and shower before getting the kids up. I got in 7 miles on the treadmill and finally finished Stranger Things! I had been saving it and I’m sad it’s now done.
That night, we hopped in the car for a ride to a cabin in Southern Ohio- we were staying with B’s full extended family for the weekend!

Saturday: NO RUNNING!
We were on vacation with B’s family and stayed in a cabin surrounded by snowy wilderness. It was single digits out and there was no gym – so no running for me! I did get in 2 miles of walking in the afternoon with my sister in law, and the kids did lots of running around! The house had an indoor basketball court, and my brother and sister-in-law organized a ton of Olympics-themed games for them.

Total: 32.35 miles running, plus some walking and weights
Some questions for you:
- Last time you stayed in a cabin with your extended family?
- Have you been watching the Olympics?
I am linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
