Well hello, November- you’re looking mighty fine! Seriously, this week included some beautiful warm days to start the week, then rain, and then got chilly, as if the calendar/weather suddenly became aligned.
Now that we’re officially into November, here’s how October looked:
- Just shy of 120 miles run. It was a low month (for me), but I took some time off and took it easy after racing a 10K gave me some hip troubles.
- Continuing to lift weights – but thinking I should probably be going up in weight sometime soon?
- Continuing to do PT
- Got in lots of walking! It was a truly beautiful month, so I got to enjoy a lot of outdoor, colorful foliage walks.

Here’s how the week looked:
Sunday: 8.51 mile outdoor run and hip PT
Daylight savings fall back for the win! The kids slept in, and I even had time to get in a long-ish run in the daylight before we had mass and a baptism for my niece. It was perfect temps out, the leaves looked great, and I was so happy to be outside!

Monday: 4.03 miles run/walk, hip PT, shoulder + short bicep workout, 2.25 treadmill walk and 2.16 mile outdoor walk
Phew, I was pooped! GM had gotten up in the middle of the night and I didn’t sleep well. As a result, I somehow snoozed my alarm in my sleep, and woke up a little later than I would’ve liked. After doing a little weights, I had time for just 4 miles run/walk before it was time for the day. I was also able to get in a little walking later on to up my steps a little bit.
Tuesday: 5.01 mile walk/run, hip PT, back and bicep and leg workout, 4.3 miles walking
I was able to get in a walk/run to start my day, along with some weights and PT. I also walked to the polls to get in my vote! There was a short line when I got there, but it went by quickly.
Wednesday: 5.02 mile run outside, hip PT, leg workout, plus 3.75 mi walking
Wednesday morning was a GOOD morning. I woke up to the news that we would be having our first female governor of Ohio!! And it was 64 degrees. So I of course had to get out for an easy run with shorts on.
I’ve been seeing a lot of deer this time of year, and this week was no different. I saw countless does and bucks just walking in the street or sitting on the grass when I run by. They have no fear of humans!

Thursday: 4 miles running, core workout, hip PT, 6.5 miles walking
GM woke up at 4 a.m. and I struggled with getting him back to sleep – I wanted him to be back in bed with the light off before I left the house, and of course, that took a while. By 5:45 he was finally back in bed, so I only had time to get ready and out for a 4 mile run. I almost skipped it but it was 59 degrees, and I knew it would likely be one of my last shorts-runs for a while! Luckily I was able to get in some walking during the day as well, some inside while working and outside too. It was a beautiful day to walk outside!

Something somewhat magical happened on my walk, I was minding my own business when a bird swooped down slowly somewhat nearby. I looked up and noticed it was a bald eagle! I have been told that there are bald eagles that live near me, but I have never seen one that close in the wild. I was truly in awe. I didn’t get a photo, but it flew so close and then back over the water.
Friday: 5.03 miles running, chest and tricep workout, hip PT, 5 miles walking
I woke up to rain and 50 degrees. Not quite cool, but definitely different from the past few days! I took my time with weights and PT, and by the time I was done, the rain had tapered off for a little, so I was able to get in a pretty dry run. I also got in some treadmill walking during work and an outdoor lunch walk.
Saturday: 6.05 mile run, hip PT
Rainy Saturday! I slept “in” and got to enjoy a run during the daylight. Well, it was drizzling/rainy the entire time and chilly, but it was still pretty outside! I almost skipped this run (chilly rainy runs are not my favorite), but I’m glad I didn’t!
Total: 37.68 miles running, walking, hip PT and weight training
Some questions for you:
- Have you ever seen a bald eagle up close?
- Did it finally get cooler near you this week?
