WIAW #23: Jury Duty.

Happy What I Ate Wednesday! It’s my 23rd WIAW post and for those of you that know me know that 23 is my lucky number. So of course this WIAW includes some of my favorite foods – cheese and froyo and candy 🙂

I had jury duty this week so my eats were a little more controlled. Meaning I had to pack my own snacks unless I wanted to see what they had at the courthouse (note: Apparently the food at the courthouse was actually good. Oh well!)

Breakfast, instead of my usual egg whites (I didn’t think bringing those would be a good idea) or smoothie (I usually make this with the office Vitamix), I grabbed a big bag of frozen grapes. Only some of the grapes are pictured, below. Because let’s face it, I already ate half the grapes before I took a photo.

I had done some meal prep over the weekend and managed to make a few salads for B and me to take for lunches this week. You can’t see all the goodness in here, but it’s baby lettuce (my favorite!), arugula, tomato, roasted sweet potato and chicken.

For snacks, I had made some peanut butter granola. Again, that’s about half of the granola I packed. I also packed some carrots.

For dinner, I made some spicy Italian chicken burgers (these were bought at the West Side Market, I just cooked them) with some peppers and onions and a caprese quinoa salad (with fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil). The meal tasted so summery to me – it was perfect!

It was a beautiful evening, so B and I took a walk and got some froyo at a place not to far from our apartment. I LOVE frozen yogurt places – mainly for the toppings bar as you can see – and it is the first time we’ve gone all summer!

  1. What do you get on your frozen yogurt? Anything and everything. I like a basic flavor and then toppings galore! I mixed few pieces of cheesecake bites, cookie dough bites, butterfingers, snickers and even boba and mochi. Oh, and of course one sour worm. Just because.

  1. Oh my, all those toppings look amazing! I actually don’t think I’ve ever had frozen yogurt before-need to add it to my ‘must try’ list 🙂

  2. I’m totally boring and only get cocoa chips and rainbow sprinkles! Jury duty is totally the pits… I had it this past spring… thankfully not again for another 4? 6? years… who knows. Haha

  3. I always intend to try freezing grapes, but I always eat them before I remember haha! Need to prioritize that next time. At pinkberry, I just like getting fruit + some chocolate wafery thing on top, but at my favorite place at home they have cheescake cubes that are SO good. I stick them on the bottom and they absorb all the froyo.

  4. Fresh mozzarella just makes any dish 10x better than bagged shredded mozzarella.

    p.s. frozen grapes diped in almond butter (or peanut butter) is delicious! Have you tried before?

  5. I’ve never had jury duty, but oddly I really want to! I guess I just want to experience it for myself! The best thing I ate this week was chicken fried rice I made for dinner one night.

  6. Great eats! I love froyo…I found a great place near my parent’s house so when I’m here I like to go there. They’ve got lots of yogurt choices, toppings, and the employees are friendly. It’s really great. I try and be fairly basic on my toppings but occasionally get more. My toppings usually are chocolate or cookie related, then of course some sauce that’s warm (like chocolate, caramel, or butterscotch). I always add a dollop of whipped cream and a cherry for good measure!

  7. Frozen grapes are definitely bomb.com. My froyo must always have a chocolatey/peanutbuttery/cookiedoughey base (no fruity flavors) and then I like to top it with chocolate, nuts, fruit (mangos and berries are the best), and also just like you, a sour gummy worm <3.
