Weekly Running Update: Highest Mileage Week

This week was my highest mileage week of the whole year! I ran nearly 36 miles for the whole week, which is high for me. We had step challenge at work going on (I didn’t win), so each day my plan was to run at least 6 miles before work. I did it, and even got in 7 on Friday. Here’s how it looked:

Some highlights from the week include:

Sunday, before the step challenge started, we did a race with the whole family. I pushed FW and B pushed LM in the stroller and we did a local 5K.

The rest of the week included 6 + mile runs each day, including a 7 miler on Friday. It’s so dark in the mornings now! But if I wanna get a run in, I gotta still wake up early to get it in.

Despite getting in 19,000+ steps each day, I didn’t win the step challenge. But I still got in more steps than I usually do! Some questions for you:

  • How many steps do you take in a day?
  • What time do you wake up?

I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

  1. Great job with all those daily runs! I’m an early-riser most days…usually awake before my alarm (5:15-5:30). I have to get most of my runs done in the early morning, as well, due to my work schedule. Our weather is so sporadic that I don’t want to gamble on waiting until after work for running (though, on occasion, I have gotten lucky LOL).

  2. That’s a great week in training! I don’t know about steps cause I really don’t track that very much, but for a while my step goal was 7500 because I had been injured and not moving much at all. This week it was up to 8100 a day which means Garmin is catching on to my increased training load. Eventually I’m sure it’ll go back up to 10,000 plus. I wake up at 4am most mornings to train. It’s super dark out but its the only time I can really get it done without interrupting my day!

  3. That’s a lot of mileage! Great job!

Most weeks, I average about 11,000 steps a day. I don’t take as many steps when I cross train, but then make up for it with longer runs. Balance, right?

My alarm goes off at 4:20AM. So fun 😛

  4. That’s a lot of steps! I’m surprised you didn’t win. Garmin said my avg steps is around 13,000. On a rest day, I barely get 1,000! I just sit around all day at work. My alarm goes off at 5:20am these days. It’s too dark at that time! Great job on your big miles this week!
