It’s the Holiday Season

And just like that, it’s the holiday season! I’m so excited that Christmas is almost here – and can’t believe it. I’m so looking forward to a few days off and seeing my family.

Here’s how our weekend looked:

Friday night, we went out to Aladdin’s for dinner with the whole family. I had their fattoush and spicy cauliflower, which are my favorite. Unfortunately, they messed up the kids orders and ended up overcharging us, but we all survived.

Saturday started off with some pajama play. We typically have the kids get dressed before going down for breakfast, but it was nice to just stay in our PJs on the chilly morning.

The day also included a trip to the West Side Market. I haven’t been there in forever, and it was great to get there early and let the kids run around. We also picked up a tons of food for the week.

And got some coffee (for B), chocolate milk (for FW) and kombucha (for me).

FW also helped me make some holiday cookies. I’m hoping to make some treats this week to gift to the kids’ teachers at school and some neighbors.

While the kids were napping, I got in a short run. It was sunny and crisp out — it was nice running during the day for a change!

And while the kids and I played, B made us dinner. Homemade pasta with broccolini, chicken sausage and shallots. He made the pasta but the rest we had bought at the market earlier that day.

Sunday started off with brunch — I was meeting my friend Emily and Steph for coffee and breakfast. Steph is expecting baby #2 on Christmas Eve so we wanted to get in some catch up before the baby arrives.

That evening, after watching the Browns win (!!) we headed to Little Italy for an Italian feast with B’s family. The kids had ravioli and they loved the tiramisu for dessert. Trattoria has the BEST tiramisu.

The rest of the family headed to the Cleveland Orchestra holiday concert, but with two kids, we decided to just head home. And that was the end of our weekend!

Some questions for you:

  • Do you like tiramisu?
  • What are you excited to bake for the holidays?

  1. Fun weekend! The dinner you had Sat night looked SO good!!! I also need to start baking some treats, Thanksgiving being so late this year has me all sorts of thrown off! My kiddos are out of school next Friday and I’m like ohhh crap, I gotta get moving on this stuff!

  2. I’m trying to bake again this holiday season after many years of baking disappointments. I made some cookies last weekend as a “rehearsal.” They were OK, but I know now how to improve the next batch.
