Another Weekly Mileage Record

Another week of some early morning running with nothing to train for is under my belt. And, while some days I feel like I’m getting faster (but not nearly as fast as I was earlier in the year), some mornings my legs are like lead and my feet hurt, and I can barely run at all. So, even though each day doesn’t feel great, I’m happy to have gotten to another mileage high for the year – 38 miles total for the week.

Here’s a look at the week as a whole:

Here were some of this week’s highlights:

I had a few runs that were under 10 min/mile this week. Again, this isn’t a pace that I used to have a hard time hitting, but lately these runs are few and far between. I miss when my comfortable half marathon pace was at 9 min/mile!

We had some great running weather most of the week. It was in the 50s most mornings, which meant shorts or capris, and not too humid.

I got in another 8 miler on Thursday, which I’ve started doing regularly. This Thursday I wasn’t feeling it, though, so I did end up doing a lot of walking, pretty much every time I hit a hill. But still, I felt great after getting it done!

And that’s about it. My feet have been hurting on and off few a week or so – just tired – and I think it’s time I got some new shoes and insoles. I’m a neutral shoe wearer (love my sauconys) but am always looking for recommendations!

Some questions for you:

  • Any neutral running shoe recommendations?
  • Did you finally hit warmer weather near you?

I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

    Congrats on the mileage
I was listening to a Rogue Running podcast today and he talked about one of the reasons behind dead legs being the need for new shoes, so you could very well be right.

the 50’s are my favorite temps for running too. We won’t be seeing those again for a while. My fave neutral shoe is the Brooks Glycerin have you tried those? Nice job on your weekly mileage! thanks for linking up

    You’re doing great!
I wear stability shoes, but i have heard great things about the Brooks Ghost and Launch. Maybe those are worth a try.

Awesome mileage, Melissa! Our weather was kind of miserable until Saturday afternoon…now it feels like summer (and I’m not complaining).

Great mileage this week! I got 20 miles this week and was pretty happy about it. Have you tried any Brooks shoes? For neutral shoes try the Ghost or the Launch. Those are two of my favorites.

Awesome mileage (though don’t forget to take a rest day once in a while lol)

I’m a Saucony fan too. I run in Kinvaras, but I wish they lasted longer. I’m looking for a new long run shoe with cushion. Great mileage this week. Temps in the 50s are my favorite!
