This week’s running post theme is — book ends. I’m starting to really feel the weariness and body aches of pregnancy hit me (I’m 31 weeks), and my runs are getting harder and harder. But, I started the week (Sunday) and ended the week (yesterday) with two good runs, which makes it somewhat easier to keep up my running streak for a few more days. Today is day 395 of my running streak, and super proud to have run this long. But, it’s getting harder and there are some days when I’m not sure I’m going to be able to make it.
What made those runs good? Sunday, B and I were on our own (B’s parents had the kids) and we got in a run by ourselves! I wanted to do 1 mile without stopping (my typical goal) but I made it to 2 miles and then we mostly ran/somewhat walked the rest. I felt pretty good nearly the entire time – at least much better than when I run without him! And yesterday, I had gotten more sleep (thanks to the kids sleeping in on Saturday morning), and I found a really good playlist and lost myself in the miles. I don’t typically listen to music while running, so it was a nice change and definitely helped.
Here’s how the rest of the week went:
Sunday: 3.75 mile run
(after i stopped my watch at 3.52, we finished up to get to an “even” 3.75)
Monday: 5.2 miles – walk/run
Tuesday: 4.4 miles – walk/run
Wednesday: 5 miles – walk/run
Thursday: 5.08 miles – walk/run
Friday: 4.3 miles – walk/run
Saturday: 4.25 mile run
Total mileage for the week: 31.98 miles
Weeks pregnant: 31
Running Streak Days: 394
We also got in a few family walks during the week, which helped me keep up my step goal streak as well.
And some of the songs that kept me going this week:
Questions for you:
- What’s your go-to song or type of music to help you keep going on your run?
- Do you listen to music while running? I don’t typically, but this week it was a nice change!
I am still so impressed that you have kept up your streak this far into your pregnancy! What happens when you go into labor? Will you be running around the hospital!? 🙂
Props to you for keeping that streak alive at 31 weeks! That is tremendous! I’d been dabbling with podcasts during my runs but lately I too have been running in silence. Kind of nice to hear the birds.
It’s no wonder your runs are getting harder. It’s as important as ever to listen to your body. I need fast paced music to keep me going on my runs.
I don’t listen to music these days when I run (that may change as I enter 26.2 training in a few weeks and have a lot longer runs on the schedule). I prefer classic rock, but the songs on my (late) iPod were a mix of everything. That said, I’m a huge AC/DC fan 😉

Aww the little ducklings! So cute. Amazing that you’ve hit 395!
You are so close!!! You’ve got this!
I don’t listen to music on my runs, so have no idea what would even get me pumped anymore.
Awesome on the running streak! I also listen to music while running. I like it but also like running without it. I am content just being out there.
