Getting Up Early

School has half started and we are back to getting up early again! I was able to sleep in (to 6) Monday and Tuesday this week, but my son started 2nd grade on Wednesday and it was back to early mornings so I could get in a workout before waking him up. I’m still trying to figure out what time I need to wake up to get in a full workout in the mornings, and this week’s mileage reflects that – I didn’t get in as long of a workout on Wednesday to Friday this week, but hopefully soon we’ll back into our routine.

Last Full Week of Summer

I know I say it all the time – but summer is my favorite. So this week I’m in mourning over our last full week of summer. My 2nd grader goes back to school next week, and our kindergartener (!) starts the week after. This is our last full week with everyone home. Our last full week of sleeping in, not having to rush out the door, etc. So even with work, I tried to soak it all up!

Other Options

I am addicted to running. I can’t stop and don’t want to stop. I like the way it makes me feel. I like the way my body feels during (most of the time) and after (all of the time). But, it’s nice to have other options. I know that I’m not going to be able to run forever, and I know that it’s good to have off days, rest days and cross training.

That’s why I am excited to share that we’re building a mini gym in our basement! We don’t have a finished basement, but B has been working to make some of the rooms more useable. As of this week, though, we have a somewhat workable workout space! We have always had treadmill upstairs, but in our new gym we have some kettlebells, a rower and an exercise bike! So this week, in addition to running, I’ve gotten in some time on the bike for a change.

Adios July

I can’t believe I am sharing my JULY RECAP right now. How did July go by so fast? Ugh. I’m a broken record – every month in the summer goes by too fast for me!

July was a good month in terms of running. I was able to get in about 130 running miles, including stroller run! I also got in a swim, a lot of walking miles, and core workouts almost every week day. Writing that all out makes me feel pretty accomplished – I’ll take it! Especially with a busy month, which included traveling to Upstate NY, Philadelphia, and lots of weekend activities including family visits, visiting friends, GM’s birthday party, etc.
