We are almost all back to school! My oldest is now there full time in second grade, and my daughter officially has two days of kindergarten under her belt. Kindergarten starts with a part-time schedule, so she went in Tuesday and Friday this past week and LOVED it! I am not loving the early mornings but hoping that soon we will all be in a routine again. I already have moved my alarm back a little to accommodate my runs, but am grateful to not be training for anything right now so I can take it easy if I need a little more sleep.
Also, as we reach September (!) here is where our August ended up:

Total miles: 145.35 mi
Highlights: We started building our basement gym, with free weights, a rower, and a bike. I’ve used the bike a handful of times but can’t wait to be better about cross training down there!
Here’s what the week looked like:
Sunday: 5.51 mi run, and 1.87 mile stroller walk later in the day. I got in a nice 5.5 mile run before we headed to FW’s soccer game. His team lost sadly, but he still had a good time. Because GM fell asleep in the car ride back from soccer, he refused to take a nap later. So I decided to take him out for a walk while the big kids had quiet time. He lately doesn’t enjoy being in the stroller on a walk (he wants to get out and walk himself) but he was so tired that he was just mellow and chilled the entire time.
Monday: 4.18 miles miles run plus core workout. With my alarm set at my new normal time, I only had time for 4ish miles. It made me realize I may need to set it earlier if I want to start running more than 4 in the mornings.
Tuesday: 5.32 miles miles run plus core workout, then .55 mi run/walk later in the day. It was LM’s first day of kindergarten! She had a great day and can’t wait until she’s there full time. Later in the day, I ran about .55 miles with FW and LM and from FW’s to soccer practice.

Back to school together!
Wednesday: 5 mile run, core workout and .65 mi walk with GM and LM before school. I finally set my alarm earlier but barely made it up for my 5 miles. I didn’t get in a full core workout until later, but I still got it in!
Thursday: 5.03 mile run and core workout. I set my alarm for earlier but ended up snoozing longer than I would’ve liked. It was dark and cool outside, which made for pretty good running letter. Despite being tired, my legs felt good the entire run, which was great! My brain was also active – I stopped a few times to write down some things on a google sheet I keep when i would think of things that I needed to do, or ideas for work projects, and then I’d go back to running.
Friday: 6.22 miles run and a little longer core workout I decided to run after getting the kids on the bus and it was GREAT! I was able to get in a 10K before starting my day, and it was light out. I know it’s not something I can do every day because of GM and my work schedule, but was grateful to fit it in and get more sleep than usual.

Running in daylight is such a treat these days
Saturday: 4.1 mile stroller run I got in a stroller run with GM in the morning, and he was surprisingly good the whole time! When we got home, he wanted to run some we walked/ran almost a mile together around our neighborhood.
Total mileage: 36.54 mi
Questions for you:
- Do you find running a good time to think? Yes, lately I’ve been keeping a document on my phone that I can update while running so I don’t forget things that come up when I’m out.
- Are you still running in the daylight or is it darkness when you go out now?
I am linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
