Yikes, where did December go? I took off of writing last week, because I was out of town. My dad had open heart surgery and I went out to NYC to be with him for the procedure. He is doing well thankfully, and I’m back in Cleveland while my mom helps him recover.
This week was back to normal with my schedule but we had a few activities going on – Monday FW had basketball and soccer and LM had ballet. Wednesday GM had his holiday concert at school and FW had soccer. Thursday FW had his school holiday concert. Friday LM and I went to the Nutcracker. Saturday included a visit with Santa and FW’s soccer game. But ‘tis the season – lots going on, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
I was still able to stay pretty active and get in some miles. I had a hard time getting out of bed most mornings, so I didn’t get in as long of a run as I would’ve liked (5 miles is my happy morning “easy” run), but the weather was clear, so I still got out each day in the cold.
Here’s how the week looked:
Sunday: 6.2 miles – After landing back in CLE Saturday night, it was nice to get in a nice 10K to start my Sunday. I felt surprisingly good and ran it fast (for me). B went to the Browns game with a friend so I was home with the kids most of the day and was glad to have gotten a chance to be active before a day with the three of them.
Monday: 5.1 miles and core work – Back to reality and waking up early after a week of sleeping in to 6 a.m. in NY! It was also cold and dark, but as always, I was grateful to be out there.
Tuesday: 4.25 miles and core work – I struggled to get out of bed, but made it happen.
Wednesday: 4.58 miles and core work – We had our office party at lunch, so I wanted to get into work a little early to be productive before. This meant I didn’t quite finish the run I wanted to, but was glad for another clear day.
Thursday: 4.54 miles and core work – I was cold, but again, grateful for no snow!
Friday: 5.04 miles and core work – It was a teeny bit warmer (in the upper 30s vs. lower30s)
Saturday: 5.25 miles – On Saturdays, I get to run during the daylight and I love every minute of it. It was another warmish morning and I was so glad to take advantage of clear skies and clear roads. I spent some time on some local trails too, which were peaceful.

Total mileage: 34.96 mi
Questions for you:
- Do you have some time off for the holidays?
- Any upcoming travel planned?
