Disclosure – I was asked by the Browns to give away 2 tickets to an upcoming game! Read on (or just scroll down) to enter to win! NOTE: the giveaway has now ended. The winner has been contacted. Thanks to all that have entered!

Football season is back! That’s right, the Browns are back in town.

Since moving downtown, I’ve gotten a lot more excited about football season. Let me be honest with you – growing up, I did NOT watch much football. I didn’t understand football. I came from a family that didn’t really watch it, so I never really got into it OR understood it. Even after I was gifted a book, Teach Me Football (yes, someone GAVE me a book about how to understand football!).

Yes, I own this book.

Then came college. Going to BC, I grew to LOVE game days! The excitement around campus, the Superfan Shirts, and really just the experience of tailgating, rallying behind the team and of course the perfect fall weather. Suddenly I got it. For me – football wasn’t really about the game. Sure, I began to understand what was happening and how to score points – but I really enjoyed just hanging out with people before and during games.

Then came Cleveland. And moving downtown. And being in the middle of all the excitement that comes with living in a real live NFL city. And of course the fun cooking that comes with tailgating (might I recommend some low fat taco dip, football brownie sandwiches or buffalo chicken dip). So last year I finally made it to a few games – and I can’t wait to attend even more now that the season is BACK! Here are some favorite shots from last year:

Mark your calendars, the official season starts on September 8, at 1 p.m. against the Dolphins. I’ll be on vacation, but I hope to see some awesome tweets, photos, Instagram shots and Vines of everyone tailgating and having a good time.

Also, have you heard that the Browns are celebrating the 2013 season with some cool events, giveaways, etc. all leading up to the game next week? Their new website, Paint the Town Browns, will have information about all the fun.

I don’t watch much football, but for some reason, I love chips and dip when I am lounging around watching a game. Maybe it’s the repetitive “pick-up, dip, munch, repeat” rhythm that is soothing! I’ve never been to a Brown’s game before. It sounds like fun!
