This week was a little off in terms of running, but overall, still pretty good. Why? Because I was in New York with my family for the holidays. This meant that there was 1) no treadmill and 2) lots of family time and distractions. There was also a good amount of snow on the ground when I got there — they had gotten 3ish feet or so since Thanksgiving! Here’s what the week looked like in terms of runs:
Sunday: None — COLD outside, and we spent the morning at the local museum with the kids. Then, in the afternoon they refused to go down for naps so it was a semi-busy/tiring day.
Monday: 5.85 miles outside. I was dying to get out and in need of a run after a few days off!
Tuesday: 3.34 miles outside plus a few miles walking with friends.
Wednesday: No miles on Christmas.
Thursday: 5.67 miles outside
Friday: 3.32 miles – these were not planned, but I decided to get out and run before we started our day and hit up another museum.
Saturday: No miles — just a looooong car ride!
And some photos:
Monday’s run I did was cold and snowy. I ran to a nearby park area but even the paths on the park were somewhat icy and snow-covered. But it was pretty – blue skies and snow on the ground!

I also got in a nice few mile walk with some friends Tuesday. We met up, grabbed coffee, and walked at the aforementioned park.
By the end of the trip, the snow had nearly melted, making the paths much clearer and less icy! This meant a much easier run.
I don’t often run on vacation, but this year I was lucky enough to have my parents and B to watch the kids while i got outside. I’m so glad I did – it made my week that much better!
Some questions for you:
- Do you run on vacation?
- Was it snowy near you?
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
