This week was a little off in terms of running, but overall, still pretty good. Why? Because I was in New York with my family for the holidays. This meant that there was 1) no treadmill and 2) lots of family time and distractions. There was also a good amount of snow on the ground when I got there — they had gotten 3ish feet or so since Thanksgiving! Here’s what the week looked like in terms of runs:
Sunday: None — COLD outside, and we spent the morning at the local museum with the kids. Then, in the afternoon they refused to go down for naps so it was a semi-busy/tiring day.
Monday: 5.85 miles outside. I was dying to get out and in need of a run after a few days off!
Tuesday: 3.34 miles outside plus a few miles walking with friends.
Wednesday: No miles on Christmas.
Thursday: 5.67 miles outside
Friday: 3.32 miles – these were not planned, but I decided to get out and run before we started our day and hit up another museum.
Saturday: No miles — just a looooong car ride!
And some photos:
Monday’s run I did was cold and snowy. I ran to a nearby park area but even the paths on the park were somewhat icy and snow-covered. But it was pretty – blue skies and snow on the ground!
I also got in a nice few mile walk with some friends Tuesday. We met up, grabbed coffee, and walked at the aforementioned park.
By the end of the trip, the snow had nearly melted, making the paths much clearer and less icy! This meant a much easier run.
I don’t often run on vacation, but this year I was lucky enough to have my parents and B to watch the kids while i got outside. I’m so glad I did – it made my week that much better!
Some questions for you:
- Do you run on vacation?
- Was it snowy near you?
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

I’m impressed with how many miles you wee able to get in considering the weather conditions. Nice job!
There is something really special and peaceful about running in the snow. WE have not had any yet. Nice job this week considering all the travel time too. Happy holidays!
I love running on vacation! Great way to start the day 🙂 I can’t believe they had that much snow up there! Kudos for getting out there despite the snow!
It can be hard to get out for a run on a family trip like that, but sometimes that makes it even more enjoyable! Glad you had a good week.
That’s great you got some runs in! I try to always run on my vacations as I feel like I see more that way:)
I usually run on vacation, though I seldom did in the past. I’m doing the winter streak (for a few more days), so I ran every day while in Cali/AZ this past week. Happy New Year!
How fun to get to spend some time in NY at the holidays. It’s my favorite time of year.
No snow here. Just some rain and humidity.
I do run on vacation. I think it’s the best way to see now places.
QUITE some holiday miles! way to go!
no snow here! it’s been quite mild but getting colder again.
I tend to always run at least once whilst on vacation. especially if I’m in a new-to-me city.
Hope you have a lovely NYE!
I rarely run when on vacation. Right now I am on Winter Break and am home so I was able to sleep in and run. 🙂 It didn’t snow last week during Christmas but today we got snow and it is supposed to get cold too. No bueno.
I love running in new places so usually if there’s someone to help with the kids, I will squeeze in a run or two! Well done on getting all those vacation miles done, and in the snow too! Wishing you a fantastic New Year!
