Well, it’s only taken 8 weeks, but I’m finally in a groove and feeling good about running. After taking a week off and having the flu, I had a rough time getting back at it, with having a hard time breathing and catching my breath. But I’ve been running with no chest pain for several weeks now. And, this week, I got in my first few runs with an under 10-minute/mile pace, which normally is a piece of cake, but since March has been impossible. I know I’ve said this before, but while the whole world is turning upside down, and I have no control over what happens, I am so so so grateful to have running. Especially right now.
Here’s a look at the week as a whole:
And some more about my runs during the week:
I hit my highest milage of 2020 – 37.42 miles.
I had more than one run that was under 10 min/mile pace – a 8.52 mile run and 5.11 mile run.
Friday morning I wasn’t initially planning on running. I was going to take off after my fast (for me) 8 miler on Thursday, or just get in a walk. But then, Thursday night I saw the news of the arrest of the men who had shot and killed Ahmaud Aubrey while he was going for a run. I saw that people were planning on running in memory of him, 2.23 miles (he was killed 2/23) on Friday (which would have been his 26th birthday). I knew that of course I had to do that. It was a painful and slow 2.23 miles (and then some, because I’m not a good route planner), but of course I’m glad to be able to run in his memory.
Did you get snow this week? It was COLD Saturday morning. In the 20s and flurrying! So, I’m glad I got outside, but I can tell you that I wasn’t looking forward to bundling up and getting out there. Did you see the snow on the steps in the earlier pic? And what I was wearing down below? Gloves, ear band, turtleneck and jacket. In MAY! Brr!
Some questions for you:
- Did you get some snowy cold weather near you this week?
- What’s your average mileage in a week?
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
We had a cold spell but no snow! Before the stay-at-home orders, I was running 15 miles a week, and now that’s up to 20-25 since I no longer am going to spinning class. I’m trying not to run every day, but it’s hard!
Look at your running everyday! Great news that you are feeling so much better out there. Happy Mother’s Day to you have a great week
No snow, but lots of cold weather. Oh, did I mention wind? Ugh, we had that on the daily as well. I keep my mileage pretty moderate…20-25ish when I’m maintaining, and just slightly above (25-30) if I’m training for 26.2. My body does not like anything higher.
After some high mileage weeks earlier this year, I’m back down to around 25 which is a good amount for me right now. Good for the body and great for the mind! Maybe this past week was the last bit of cold and snow (!!). That’s exciting to see you progressing!
No snow, but it has been chilly. I had to turn on the heat the other night for a little bit!
Right now, my average is about 25, but that’s running and walking miles.
No snow here but it did get really cold which was kinda perfect since I had to run a virtual half marathon. Except it was also SO window!! Great job this week, glad to hear you’re finding your running groove 😉
