Rating My May Running

Where. Did. May. Go?

But seriously, how is it practically June?

May flew by and included lots of running, but it looked a little different than usual. No Cleveland Marathon. No local 5Ks. No races at all.

But still plenty of miles! Here’s what it looked like:

And my monthly total was about than 160 miles! So I’d give May an A for sure.

I am worried that this increase in mileage (at least for me) is paying its toll. My left leg around the shin area started hurting a little just this weekend. Right now it’s a dull ache-type of pain, so I’m hoping if I just rest for a few days or tone down the mileage, it will go back to normal. I also am in need of some new shoes — I am at nearly 400 miles, but have a new pair coming my way next week.

Here are some of the highlights from the week:

Sunday was LM’s birthday! To celebrate, we kicked off the day with a bagel run. Literally. I ran to the bagel store, and B biked there with the kids. They loved it!

Saturday brought my running streak to 37 days! I’ve run every day since I completed my half marathon. Hmm, maybe that’s also why my shin is hurting?

Some questions for you:

  • What are some social isolating-friendly low impact workouts I can do while my shin is hurting? No gyms (elliptical, etc.) or pools here for me… oh yeah, and I can’t ride a bike.
  • What’s your average monthly mileage?

Wow crazy good mileage! You sure did earn yourself an A in the running department. Nice job and thanks for linking up today. Have a great week

Dang, that’s some serious mileage! Do you have a stairway? Walking (not running) up the stairs may be a low-impact option. If you take the steps “by two’s” (again, slowly) it kind of simulates step-ups (you’ll feel it more in your glutes/hammies than anywhere else). You can also walk up the steps sideways…takes some coordination, so that’s also a slow-moving option LOL

    Great job!

Can you walk? Do yoga? There are lots of great free yoga classes on YouTube you could try?

I love the idea of running to the bagel store. Ours is too far for that, but it would be cool if we could.

Great job! I am impressed with your mileage. I hope that pain you are experiencing isn’t too serious. Maybe the new shoes will help. What did you order?
