I think that all my complaining about our never-ending winter paid off – we finally had a taste of spring in Cleveland!
It was just that though – just a taste – as of course after our 2 days in a row of 40s and even 50 one day we were in the 20s again. But, those 2 days of warmth, sunshine and just a little snow melting was all I needed to start getting my running mojo back.
The week started out cold, miserable and incredible icy. So icy that I almost fell walking down our driveway several times. The sidewalks were no better. But then it warmed up, we had some sun, and I was able to get outside for a run again after almost a week of staying indoors. It’s amazing how much better I feel during an outdoor run. On the treadmill I stop, get water, check email, start up again, stop, change what I’m watching, etc. Outside, I run pretty much consistently and just feel more motivated. So, after Sunday’s treadmill run, the rest were all outside!
Here’s how the week looked:
Sunday: 5.5 treadmill miles, but then a long walk with the family. We walked over to the nearby lakes, which were frozen solid! B and FW are standing on top of the solid ice in this pic. And this was the only day I was stuck inside this week!
Monday: 5.52 miles
Tuesday: 6 miles – I did 5 outside and 1 inside.
Wednesday: 5.1 miles
Thursday: 5.11 miles
Friday: 5.26 miles
Saturday: 5.31 miles – and it was 42 degrees! Meaning I actually wore capris for the first time in … FOREVER. We also got in a long walk with the family by the lake.
Weekly mileage: 37.8 mi
Running streak days: 310
I also got this message on my Garmin app early in the week – I’ve kept up my step goal for 200+ days!
Some questions for you:
- Do you have a step goal? How often do you meet it?
- Did it warm up near you?
