Good Run Bad Runs

It’s amazing what much one good run can do for your mood, self esteem, and overall well being.

For most of this week, I had so-so to bad runs. Runs where I told myself, just get to one mile without stopping and then you can walk for a minute. Where I reminded myself that I had “less than 2 weeks to go to get to a year in my running streak.” Runs where I also completely doubted myself and doubted my ability to keep running throughout this pregnancy.

And then Saturday came along and after a full night’s sleep and beautiful weather, I finally had a good run. No, a great run. A run where the walking was minimal, the weather was PERFECT and I was able to get in under 12 minutes/miles, even with walking, for the entire 5 miles. And at 25 weeks pregnant and day 352 of my running streak, I’m really happy about that.

So, even though this week is my lowest mileage week in 2021, I ended the week on a high note.

In addition to ending the week with a good run, it was a good week in terms of our weather. We had sunshines and warm weather every day, which meant some perfect mornings for running and even shorts weather!

Here’s how the week looked:

Sunday: 4.27 miles

Monday:  4.5 miles

Tuesday: 5.61 miles

Wednesday: 4.62 miles

Thursday: 5.25 miles

Friday: 5.19 miles

Saturday: 5.29 miles 11:34 min/mile

Total Mileage: 34.73 miles

Weeks Pregnant: 25!

Total Days of Running Streak: 352

And some photos from the week:

Some questions for you:

  • When was the last time you had a GREAT run?
  • Do you wear a watch to keep track of pace/mileage on your runs?

  1. Isn’t it funny how running is like that? You were probably starting to wonder if you were done for the duration of your pregnancy and then suddenly, everything is great again.
I’m loving everyone’s flower pictures. Have a great week and I can’t wait to hear how the run streak progresses- good luck!

  2. YAY for that great run!!!!! I haven’t had any “bad” runs of late, but Friday’s post-work 8-miler was totally awesome (after the first couple miles). It definitely gave me a huge boost of post-stress fracture confidence for my upcoming 13.1.

  3. Today was actually a great run. I wasn’t expecting it to be, but I was so happy when it was over and I realized how good it felt.

That sunrise is gorgeous and the daffodils are perfect!

  4. Glad you ended strong. Love the sunrise
Great runs mean different things for me at different times: yesterday was great after some garbage runs last week. I jsut switched to an apple watch and I like it better than my Garmin so far
