While it is technically spring, this week’s weather was once again wonky. Most of my runs are in the morning, and they were in the 30s or even upper 20s one day! But Sunday was nearly 80 degrees. Oh well, just another week in half marathon training for a spring race right? (I can’t believe the Cleveland half marathon is less than a month away!!) Here’s what this week’s training looked like:
Sunday: 6.01 mile run
I have crosstraining on my schedule for Sundays, but it was GORGEOUS out in the morning (60s) and I had to get out and run. It was my fastest run in a while, so I tried to just keep up the pace the entire time. It felt great to be out in shorts and a tank top for the first time this year!
Monday: 5.13 miles
Tuesday: 5.36 miles – tempo run
I attempted a tempo run, but only semi-succeeded. My third mile was up hill and I ended up slowing down for it. Oh well! Splits were:
Mile 1: 10:41
Mile 2: 9:59
Mile 3: 10:18
Mile 4: 9:57
Mile 5: 9:50
last .36: 9:24
Wednesday: 3.66 miles
Thursday: 10.52 EARLY miles
It was in the upper 20s when I woke up, so I bundled up, including gloves. But I didn’t mind the COLD for my run – I felt oddly good throughout the whole run!
Friday: 5 miles
I slept “late” on Friday (waking up at 6:15) and was still able to get in a little run before work. My legs were tired after the long run the day before, but it felt really good to be outside with daylight and try out a different route than usual (this one isn’t well lit at night/morning, so it was nice to run and see flowers, etc. during the day).
Saturday: No run
This was my highest mileage week in a while, so I decided to give my legs and feet a rest. Plus, I hadn’t gone to bed until 1 a.m. and we had a busy morning, starting with FW’s 2nd track meet and a bday party with LM. I opted for 5.5 hours of sleep instead of 4.5 and a run 🙂
Total weekly: 35.68 miles
Here’s to hoping May weather is wonderful!
Some questions for you:
- What do you consider sleeping in?
- Is it finally spring near you?
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
Wel, 6:15 is not sleeping in for me. I cannot function on that little sleep. You did have a high mileage week! Sounds like a rest day was just what you needed
Good call on getting 5+ hours of sleep. I think that’s my cut-off for when I will get up vs. skip my workout — I need 5 hours to function. I “sleep in” until 6-ish on the weekends, but may change that now that it’s light by then. If I’m still in bed at 7 that’s unusual.
Great week for you! Sleeping-in for me is anything past 5:30, LOL
