I love summertime

I’m sure I’ve said it before, but I LOVE summertime. It is my favorite season of the year. Yes, it’s hot. But I love the longer daylight, the morning LIT runs, sleeping a little later (no school bus!) and the carefree feeling all around.

This week brought the end of June (!), a celebration for my oldest (he turned 6!) and the start to a long weekend.

Anyway, here’s what the week looked like:

Sunday –  3.66 mile stroller run with FW before having a cookout/celebration with my parents and Bs family for FW’s birthday! I. Can’t. Believe. We. Have. A. 6-year-old!

Monday –   5.08 miles

Tuesday –  3.66 miles

Wednesday –  4.5 miles

love my view!

Thursday –   5.02 miles and some diastasis recti exercises  — I noticed that my DR has not improved in the past several months, so I’m starting back at the basics. No more planks or crunches – gonna focus on what I need to do to heal!

Friday – 5.25 miles and some more diastasis recti exercises

It’s been hot, so I’ve been running more on trails and LOVING it. I don’t do more than a mile or so and switch it up between trails and road, but it’s been a fun change.

Saturday –  3.5 stroller mi plus a walk yo the farmers market with the family.

Total:  30.68 miles

June total: 122.73 miles

Some questions for you:

  • Any diastasis recti healing tips?
  • How are you celebrating the Fourth?

  1. I do like the morning light of summer, but that’s about it!

We don’t really have plans for tomorrow. Probably will get outside at some point, but not for fireworks.

  2. I like the lighter days and evenings of summer but that is about it. I really struggle w the humidity and heat. Hope you have some better luck w your new exercises keep us posted as to what they are

  3. Oh yes, I’m Team Summer all the way! It is such a short season in Iowa, I make it a priority to get outside every day and cherish every moment of daylight. We’re having some family time today and tomorrow has a morning 5K race, afternoon parade (weather permitting) and a cookout with friends.

  4. Even though I’m not crazy about the summer weather in Florida, I do love the laid-back feeling. My kids are teenagers so they’re usually still sleeping when I leave for work. It feels like a vacation not to have school prep in the mornings.
Happy birthday to your son! Yes, he’s growing up.
