Long short week

I was just typing that we made it through our first FULL week of school for all of us when it hit me – this was a short week! But it certainly felt long with everything going on, from starting our week in Cincinnati, to full days and then nights with practices, music, sports and curriculum parents nights … Let’s just say that I was ready for the weekend by the time it came!

Here’s how the week looked:

Sunday: 5 miles running (2 on the hotel treadmill, 3. outside) hip PT

We had planned to leave Cincinnati early so I set my alarm to get in a run before we hit the road/sat in the car. It was still dark out when I got up, so I started my run on the treadmill. As soon as I saw it was light out, I decided to get outside! I ran to their waterfront path and along the Ohio river for a few miles and turned around to make it back to shower before we got on the road.

Good morning Cincy!

Monday: 9.35 miles, hip PT, 2 mile walk, short weight workout

Labor Day = sleeping in and running in the sun! Since we had been out of town and on the road over the weekend, I hadn’t gotten in any long runs – so I decided to get out on Monday! I was tired, my legs were tired and I felt like I was dragging, so I stopped myself around 9. Would I have liked to do 10? Yes — but I also didn’t have any plans and wanted to get our day started, so I stopped when I got back home. Later that morning we got in a walk to and from the bakery and bagel shop to pick up some bread and bagels for the week ahead.

More turkeys on the run

Tuesday: 5.08 miles, hip PT, back and bicep workout

Wow, some runs just feel GOOD amiright? And this was one of those! I was hesitant to get outside since it was so dark, but it felt great to run! I would’ve loved to run more but alas – it was time to get home and get ready for work. I had a full day in the office, then had to take the kids to music lessons so that was all the movement I got in the full day.

Wednesday: 5.01 miles walk/run total, hip PT, leg workout, plus 3.5 mile walk

Ha, of course Tuesday’s run felt great! And Wednesday I was DRAGGING. The air felt heavy and humid and I could barely get my legs to run. I told myself to walk 2-4 miles and somehow still made it 5 within the time I had. I also got in a leg workout, some hip PT and then some walking on the treadmill. I also got some walking outside later in the day to get to 3.5 miles total.

Thursday:  5.03 mile outdoor walk/run, hip PT, core workout, 1.5 treadmill walking, 2.5 miles outdoor lunch walk

I struggled on this run! I got outside, in the dark, and immediately felt no motivation. I told myself I’d walk. So I walked/ran for 5 miles and was pooped! I also got in about 4 miles of walking in the morning and at lunchtime.

Friday: 5 .03 mile run, hip PT, short chest workout,3.06 mile outdoor walk, 1.75 miles walking while working

Wow, I snoozed too much this morning! I remember the days when I never snoozed — but those are long gone. But the chilly dark morning ended up feeling good and I was able to run a fast (for me) 5 miles before getting started on my day. I was also lucky enough to get in some outdoor walking and movement on the treadmill while working on some writing/proofreading.

Saturday: 10.26 mi run, hip PT

Impromptu DOUBLE DIGIT run! We somehow ended up with no morning activities, sports, etc. and I knew I wouldn’t have time for a long run on Sunday (3 soccer games, a family reunion and B’s birthday), so I decided to get out for a longer run Saturday morning. Again, it was cooler (70 degrees and not very humid), and LIGHT OUT so it was so amazing to be outside running in the daytime! I got started later than usual because GM was being needy and didn’t want me to leave the house, so I assumed I would only get in 7-8 miles. Well, B ended up taking the kids out for donuts while I was gone, so I felt less guilty about being away and got in some extra miles plus hip PT while they were gone.

That night, B and I got in a date to celebrate his birthday! We went out to dinner and had tickets to see Lang Lang play – one of his favorite pianists who we’ve now been lucky enough to see play several times.

Total: 44.86 miles running, walking, hip PT

Some questions for you:

  • Do you like going to see professional orchestras or classical music? I think B enjoys it more than I do but I do on occassion!
  • Any September birthdays in your family?
