Well, we made it to the first full week back to school with everyone and I am tired! (Or should I say, “but I’m le tired” – anyone get that reference) It was an uneventful week with no late night activities for me and just sports/ballet/music in our evenings. But still – I was tired! I still made it out in the dark to run most mornings, kept up my hip PT and my weight training. But I also got in some walks along with the runs and a few runs with walking
Here’s how the week looked:
Sunday: 6.3 miles running, hip PT
Sunday was B’s birthday (yay!) and we of course had a busy day with a family reunion, 3 soccer games (that thankfully got changed to only 2) and dividing and conquering how to do it all. So we started the morning with a baked French toast casserole – B loves this and I decided to make it for his bday so we could start the day celebrating him. So, I had to set an alarm to get out and get in some miles BEFORE everyone woke up and before it was time to make the breakfast. Alarms on weekends are not my favorite, but it was good to at least still get in part of my run in the daylight.
Monday: 5 miles walk/run, hip PT, shoulder workout, 3.9 miles walking during the day
Back to the boring and dark mornings. It was pleasantly cool, but I wasn’t feeling it. Perhaps after not taking any days off, plus a 10 mile run on Saturday, I just didn’t feel like running. I did want to enjoy the weather, so I got outside to walk/run or mostly walk. I ended up still getting in 5, with just under 12 min/mile pace, which I was ok with due to all the walking.
After my run, this showed up on my Garmin. I don’t know if this is WHY my body felt so tired, or this showed up BECAUSE my body felt tired (if that makes sense). Hmpph!

Tuesday: 5.08 miles, hip PT, back and bicep workout, ~5 miles walking
I didn’t want to go outside again, so much that I delayed until the last possible minute. I’m going to have to figure up what’s up with my motivation these days – the darkness is really just bumming me out in the morning! Luckily once I got outside I felt really good during the run and probably would’ve run longer if it hadn’t been time to get everyone up and ready for school/work. I was also able to get in about 5 miles of walking during the day, including a nice outdoor walk later on.

Wednesday: 4.23 miles walk/run total, hip PT, leg workout, plus 6.3 miles walking
Another Wednesday of DRAGGING in the morning. So much so that I decided to truly do a walk run with mostly walking. So, I only had time to get in about 4 miles. I also got in a good amount of walking throughout the morning/day.
Thursday: 4 mile outdoor walk/run, hip PT, standing weighted core workout, 4.5 miles walking
I was actually feeling good on this run despite the humidity. But alas, at about 3 miles in, I remembered the kids had to get up early to walk to school (there’s an annual Father’s Walk they participate in) and turned home to finish my run early to help get them out the door before B walked them in. The good news was that the rain in the forecast held off and their walk was (muggy but) dry!
Friday: 8.07 mile run, hip PT, short core workout, 2 mile lunch walk
I hadn’t had time to run much during the week and was feeling like getting in a longer run – so instead of getting in any weights, I decided to do a longer run! I still somehow didn’t get out as early as I would’ve liked, but I made it out with just enough time to run 8 miles before starting my Friday. Then at lunch time, B and I got out together for a lunch walk! That hasn’t happened since last spring, so it was nice to get outside with him.
Saturday: 6.2 mi run, hip PT
We had a busy day Sat. that started with us leaving the house at 8:30 a.m. for a birthday party, so I set my alarm to get in a run outside. I really wanted to run in the daylight, and luckily I was able to get a few miles in. It was too bad I had to cut the run short to head home and get ready for the party!
Total: 39.05 miles running, walking, hip PT and weight training
Some questions for you:
- Did you get the “le tired” reference?
- Do you find yourself more tired some weeks than others?
