Fall is showing off

We lucked out and had another beautiful fall week! Blue skies, orange leaves, and truly the best time of year for running.

Lucky my hip was feeling good, so I did quite a gew more walk/runs and even a run/walk on Saturday!

Here’s how the week looked:

Sunday: 3.25 mile treadmill walk and 4.66 mile ourdoor run/walk, hip PT, a few shoulder weight exercises

I decided to play it “safe” again with a long walk/run instead of a long run, and got in almost 8 total miles between my treadmill walk and run outside after that. I set my alarm to get outside a little early since we had a few things going on – an open mic that my oldest was playing piano at and then the championship soccer game for GM’s school team. Both went really well and GM’s team ended up winning first place!

Monday: 4.15 miles run/walk, hip PT, finished shoulder workout, 6.54 miles walking

Was still having some hip problems, but not as bad as last week, so I continued with my walk/run, but a little more running than last week. I ended up with a 5.22 mi run. I was also able to get in some walking, getting in about 6.5 miles walking throughout the beautiful fall day.

Tuesday: 5.32 mile slow run, hip PT, back and bicep workout, plus 5.79 mile walking

It was another beautiful fall day! It was chilly in the morning (40s) but warmed up to 60s during the day. I wasn’t able to get in as much outdoor walking thanks to work and a dental appointment, but was still able to get outside for plenty of walking miles to enjoy it! Do I miss the warmth and early mornings of summer? Yes, but I don’t mind how pretty the fall is, especially during the day!

Wednesday: 5.04 mile run outside, hip PT, leg workout, plus 1.1 mi treadmill walking

I was tired, and wasn’t sure I would feel up to running. After “warming up” with my hip PT and leg workout, I got outside and found running felt pretty good. I took it slow on my hip and got in 5 miles before heading into the office.

Thursday:  5.04 miles running, hip PT, chest workout, 2.5 miles walking

I started the day with some hip PT and a chest workout. And then, once again I wasn’t feeling the dark – I didn’t feel like going outside. But I made it out, told myself to run/walk 4, but I ended up running most of this one (still some walking) and got in 5 before starting my day.

Friday: 5.07 miles running, hip PT, 3.1 mile walk

The kids had off school and I got to sleep in and go for a walk in the daytime! My parents came into town, and I took a 1/2 day of work so I was able to take a walk with them and the boys during the day. It was a beautiful!

Saturday: Bulldog Bolt – 1 mi walk/run, hip PT, + 3 ish miles walking

We had plans to participate in a fun run, but with B out of town, I did the 1 mile with the kids vs. my usual 5K. Since I knew it was going to be just a one mile for me, I tried to get up early to get in a short workout first, but GM woke up early so I just got in 2ish miles (run/walking) beforehand. The 1 miler was fun! GM, FW, LM and I all did the 1 mile – FW ran it, LM ran/walked and GM held my hand most of the time in between walking and spurts of sprinting. After the event there’s always some fun with face painting and other kid activities.

Later in the day, we got in a few miles of walking with my parents – we did a skeleton scavenger hunt in our neighborhood, and then a candy crawl at night!

Total: 32.85 miles running, walking, hip PT and weight training

Some questions for you:

  • Have you had any Halloween-themed events yet?
  • Are you ar peak fall foliage yet?
