I’m currently writing this blog post from Chicago! I took a few days off and headed to the Windy City for a girls weekend with some of my favorite ladies. My bffs from high school, Jane, Melgar and Alisa. So, the beginning of the week was pretty much running/activity as usual – but the end of the week was a little out of the ordinary with travel, etc. Here is a look at my mileage this week:Some highlights from the week include:
Sunday – getting in a family stroller run! This is the second week in a row we were able to do this and it was amazing. I loved running with FW (in the stroller) while B pushed LM in the stroller. I typically run by myself in the morning, so it was nice to be able to run with the whole family.
Monday-I got in a pre-work 10k! I didn’t sleep well Sunday night and woke up at 4 something unable to go back to sleep, so I was able to get out and start running early.
Saturday: I even got in one outdoor run in Chicago! Running on vacation doesn’t always happen, but I’m so happy we made time for a short run during our travels. And since I wasn’t packing for the kids, I had plenty of room in my suitcase for my running clothes and sneakers! I got in a run along the waterfront trail with my friend Alisa on Saturday morning while my friends Melgar and Jane went to a yoga class. I love running outside in a new city and this one was fab!
Some questions for you:
- Do you bring running clothes on vacation?
- Do you prefer running alone or with people?
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
Girls trips are the best, and you picked a great city. Chicago is one of my favorite cities – so much to see and do!
So nice to see you got a little break and had a fun time away with your friends. We all need those weekends!
I have not run Chicago much, but it’s been great the 8 (?) times I’ve done it. I love the lake shore route and seeing all the architecture. Sounds like a great time with just the girls 😉
Congrats on a solid week and a fun time with your friends. Your daughter is getting so big!
I do — and I find they take way more space than my prior packing would have. Mainly the sneakers
Isn’t the lakefront amazing!!! The whole trail is 18 miles long. I don’t mind running with people but prefer to run alone. The main reason is that I am “slow” and definitely do not want to hold anyone back. I think by this point I am used to running alone so I don’t mind it.
I love running with people though I’m too slow for most of the runners I know, and I do kinda like being with my thoughts instead of trying to make conversations….
